First made famous by fashion icon Coco Chanel – who introduced the first womenswear iteration of the classic design in 1950 – over 70 years later and the bouclé jacket is still bang on trend.

Though traditionally associated with formal wear, the trend has permeated its way into casual wear over the years and looks as good paired with distressed denim and white trainers as it does black slacks and slingbacks.

Inspired by the structured silhouettes of menswear tailoring, the original Chanel version was characterised by its contrasting trim, boxy fit and statement logo buttons.
