From her does-it-all coat to her wear-everywhere handbag, here are Roisin Kelly’s favourite fashion finds.
From working with high street brands in London to running a sustainable fashion start-up in Dublin, Roisin Kelly is a stylist and retail consultant advocating for slow fashion and supporting small businesses. Here, we get an exclusive glimpse into her enviable wardrobe.
How would you describe your personal style?
I like to have fun with my clothes. For me, fashion is a form of expression and creativity. I love to mix colours, prints, textures and seasons. Clothes are seasonless and not defined. Lurex and sequins in summer, why not? I’m a smart casual dresser, you will rarely see me in heels. I’m a secondhand and vintage clothes lover. I love nothing more than to rummage in charity shops or at markets. Looking for that one unique piece that has a story to tell. I rarely buy first hand and if I do, it’s an investment piece that must pass the 30-wear buy rule. I rarely buy into trends, I like to focus on what I like and what feels good on me.
The go-to shoe/trainers
I am a trainers girl and a big adidas fan. I’ve got two pairs that I absolutely love – adidas Original Campus trainers, which I have had for ten years and just never get old and a pair of animal print adidas Falcon trainers. I got them on Nuw, a second hand swapping app. I actually just recently used them for a test shoot.
The does-it-all coat
It’s got to be a leather jacket. There are so many amazing vintage leather jackets out now.
The perfect jeans
I’m now obsessed with 7 For All Mankind. They are on my wishlist. I love a boot cut and flare that is high-waisted. Gives the body shape and comfort.
The must-have knitwear
Oversized mohair jumper. Pure bliss for winter. Recently got the most amazing one from the NCBI vintage range.
The everyday jewellery
I’m a gold gal. I wear my gold Claddagh ring every day. Love it. Also, a black onyx ring my mum gave me. I love Joanne McNally’s recent collab with One Dame Lane.
The wear-everywhere handbag
Currently obsessed with the large leather tote bag my sister brought me home from Spain a few years ago. It fits so much! I am in love with August Night’s black bow bag. On my wishlist.
The Sunday cosy casual look
My adidas trackies with my oversized mohair jumper. Teamed with my Doc Martens.
The ultimate pyjamas
My favourite pjs are from Caroline Donnelly’s collection at Dunnes Stores. I’ve a few pairs in the most gorgeous prints.
The party look essential
I have a vintage white jacket with sequin lapels that is my go-to for party season. I found it on Nuw last year and it’s my staple now for glitz and glam.
The most treasured piece
I have a pair of pink Jacquemus trousers that I found in NCBI for an absolute bargain. They are my most treasured piece right now.
The wishlist item
Right now it’s the August Night crossbody bag and the 7 For All Mankind jeans.
The vintage shop to know
I love Betty Bojangles on Thomas St. Such a treasure chest. My top tip if you want vintage is to check out your local charity shops. I like to head to Camden St or Capel St. NCBI, Enable Ireland and St. Vincent de Paul are my favourites.
Who to follow for style on social media
Laura Jackson. Not just for style but home interiors, food and all-round greatness.
The beauty essentials / self-care ritual
I keep it simple with Avène products for sensitive skin. But the one absolute essential is SPF. Every day without fail. Wish I’d started that younger.
