Blue Monday getting you down? Some healthy retail therapy will turn the day around
The phrase “Monday blues” takes on a whole new meaning today, as it’s Blue Monday. The third week in January, when the shine of the festive season has well and truly worn off, payday is still out of sight, and the commute to work feels like trudging through tar, has all the ingredients of the most depressing day of the year.
Workplaces are encouraged to keep an eye on their employees today, and if you are feeling the strain of this time of year, there are lots of things that can help — exercise, chatting to friends and family, eating well and engaging in some good, old-fashioned self-care. If you’re really struggling there are also plenty of resources to talk it out, including Samaritans, which are free 24/7.
But if, like us, you’re just feeling a little stressed and looking for a pick-me-up, some retail therapy is just what Blue Monday calls for. There are countless beautiful blue pieces on the high street at the moment, and as it’s 2020’s Pantone Colour of the Year, we expect to see it cropping up from now until Blue Monday 2021.
