Today, society is all about female hustlers and long commutes, so practical dressing is #important. We all want to be able to throw on something that’s simple, comfortable and work-appropriate, yet stylish. Any woman working in a corporate office knows that figuring out a chic outfit every day of the week can be a challenge. You’re probably wondering how you can mix modern classics with fashion-forward pieces, suiting work-appropriate palettes that aren’t boring, and wearing separates while still looking professional; dressing for work can be tricky.
For fashion enthusiasts, Instagram is the sartorial equivalent to magazines circa 1986, providing endless amounts of style inspiration. Whether you’re dressing for work, a cocktail party on Saturday night or preparing for an upcoming occasion, there’s plenty of ideas from our favourite street style mavens. I work for a fashion publication, so there’s an expectation that I’ll be dressed somewhat fashionably for work. Nothing crazy like metallic Gucci cardigans, embroidered Simone Rocha capes and Manolo Blahnik mules, but making an effort is expected.
While I’m lucky that my office doesn’t have a super-strict dress code, others’ work attire is based on neutral-coloured shirts, black blazers and respectable kitten heels. If you’re one of those people and you’re looking to incorporate your own sense of style at work, you’ve come to the right place. I’ve gone straight to everyone’s favourite social platform, turning to the community on Instagram to spread some office-attire inspiration. Keep scrolling for a curated round-up of my favourite looks, which coincide with the limitations of respective workplaces, kinda.
