Seven Instagram accounts you should definitely be following for Copenhagen Fashion Week
29th Jan 2019
It’s the most wonderful time of the year… No, you haven’t gone mad, Christmas is still over. But the excitement is just beginning for the fashion lovers of the world, as fashion weeks are beginning to swing into play. Couture Fashion Week has already blessed us with some of the best social media moments of 2019 so far (see: Viktor & Rolf’s slogan ball gowns, Chanel’s beaded bridal swimming caps and Naomi Campbell stealing the show at Valentino for reference) and there is still so much left to come.
One of the most anticipated European events of the year has to be Copenhagen Fashion Week, which kicked off this week in the Danish city. With Scandi style rocketing in popularity, thanks largely in part to the power of Instagram, Copenhagen is fast becoming one of the most trendy fashion capitals in the world. Your feeds won’t be short of beautiful fashion content this week, but first, you need to know who to follow. These seven accounts will ensure that you find the best style, up-to-the-minute story snaps and all the highlights of Copenhagen Fashion Week.
Jeanette Madsen (@_jeanettemadsen_)
Stylist and Creative Consultant Jeanette Madsen is Instagram royalty. As one of the pioneers of impeccable Scandi style, she specialises in a mix of oversized tailoring and pin-perfect partywear — much of which comes from her own fashion label, ROTATE Birger Christensen, which she oversees with her equally stylish partner in crime Thora Valdimars (see below).
Thora Valdimars (@thora_valdimars)
The other half of ROTATE, Thora Valdimars’ style is very similar, if a little more pared back, than Jeanette’s. Expect plenty of cold-weather staples and hopefully a snap or two of their iconic ROTATE puff-sleeve jacquard dresses from these two Scandi queens.
Darja Barannik (@darjabarannik)
Fashion journalist Darja Barannik is no stranger to the jet-setting lifestyle, and her Russian-Norwegian background means she’s well-versed in both European and distinctly Scandi fashion. Expect plenty of classy micro-trend pieces (pearls and embellished shoes are notable examples), as well as up-to-the-minute coverage of shows on her stories.
Hanna Mw (@hannamw)
Stylist, creative consultant and Stockholm native Hanna Mw’s fresh and colourful feed is a welcome lift from the majority of beige-themed Scandi accounts. Hanna is well-known for finding vintage gems, so follow her for some inspiration on how to style the latest Copenhagen pieces in a classic way.
Pernille Teisbaek (@pernilleteisbaek)
Pernille is a woman who wears many hats in the fashion world — stylist, creative director and the co-founder of social influencer agency Social Zoo, who represents other Scandi Instagrammers such as Jeanette Madsen and Emili Sindlev. Managing major fashion talent means that Pernille is a savvy social media presence herself, and provides plenty of inspiration for styling as a busy working mother too.
Sophia Roe (@sophiaroe)
Pared-back and minimalistic, Sophia Roe’s feed is a perfect peek into Scandi style. If Old Céline and Isabel Marant are your fashion icons, Sophia’s feed is the one to follow.
Copenhagen Fashion Week (@cphfw)
What better account to follow than the mothership herself, Copenhagen Fashion Week’s official Instagram? They’ve been gearing up to the live shows with plenty of saveable street style snaps, and now that the week has kicked off, you can tune in to lots of behind-the-scenes action from the event.
