She’s a favourite of ours for many reasons, but her vibrant colour-pop style these days has placed her at the top of our fashion inspiration list
Jameela Jamil is an Instagram favourite of ours at IMAGE for countless reasons — her behind-the-scenes snaps of The Good Place, her honest and funny reviews of the life of the celebrity in Hollywood, and of course, her tireless activism for body neutrality and inclusivity, on both her own platforms and on her separate account, @i_weigh.
Jamil never misses an opportunity to let her followers see the reality behind her social media — she documents every ridiculous treatment, every car ride make-up session and consistently ensures that her photos are unretouched and unedited, to let us all know that filters and Photoshop are distorting our impressions of beauty.
We love her honesty and to us, this makes her style all the more covetable, knowing that she goes through all the same prep as us to achieve it. And lately, her love of bursts of colour in her showstopping outfits (and matching her makeup to it too) has us lusting after her wardrobe even more.
We had a look back at some of Jamil’s brightest and most beautiful colour-pop outfits, and we weren’t disappointed at what we found.
In September, Jamil attended a YSL Beauty event in head-to-toe shocking pink, and brightened up our feeds in her gorgeous Rochas bubblegum gown (when Jonathan Van Ness has worn the same one, you know you’re onto a winner). The matching eyes and lips? Done by Jamil herself.
In one of her many magazine shoots that are famously untouched in the post-edit, Jamil stunned on the cover of Nylon in this burnt orange and red ensemble. Takes tonal dressing to a whole new level.
This is power dressing for 2019. Just yesterday at the Glamour Women of the Year awards, Jamil rocked up in a tangerine sequin masterpiece by Balmain, with power-shoulders, a cinched-in waist and the attitude to match.
If you dare to go neon, you may as well go neon everything. Head to toe in highlighter yellow, including the shoes and eyeliner, there was no missing Jamil in Christopher John Rogers.
At the 2019 Emmys, Jamil went all out and donned a Monique Lhullier gown worthy of Tahani (her character on The Good Place). Mint green with sparkling emerald gems by David Webb. Heavenly.
At Harper’s Bazaar’s Icons event, Jamil’s stylist Law Roach dressed her in a stunning yellow ensemble with gold accessories and lemon-glazed eyes to match. Those Jimmy Choo courts are on our list.
Who said black has to be understated? Jamil showed us how to style the unexpected accessory of the moment, sheer patterned tights, with a blazer dress fit for the best parties of the season. Maybe Katie Holmes took a leaf out of her book?
