Street wear is quickly stomping it’s way into our wardrobes and wish lists. And with?neo-retro brands like Champion and Reebok, and newer, more stylish brands like Stussy and Supreme (and even more recently the introduction of streetwear into luxury brands like Gucci and YSL), it’s easy to see why.
I mean, if you could wear a pair of trendy trainers to work that are comfortable and stylish (emphasis on comfort), you would, right? Finding the latest pair of suitable trainers can sometimes prove’difficult here, though, because of the lack of diverse streetwear labels available – particularly for women. But the streetwear force is becoming dominantly female; making?it hard to stand out.
Size? and Brown Thomas offer a small range?of trainers, although primarily for men; so unless your shoe size is quite big you probably won’t have too’much luck. But here are some useful places you can go to find the latest releases for women that are very Instagram-worthy.
NakedCPH
Naked is a concept store from Denmark, Copenhagen, who supply girls with sneakers. What I really like about this stockist is that they tend to cater for smaller feet too – which is handy if, like me, you’re a size 2 or 2.5. And apart from the really versatile?range they have available and the consistent updates and releases, they’re online aesthetic alone is worth having a gawk at. The Scandinavians never stray far from top trends and beautiful design, so you can be sure you’ll be putting your best foot forward with this crowd.

HypeBae
The fashionable younger sister of HypeBeast, HypeBae is fast becoming the central hub for women looking to invest in their street wear wardrobes. The American online journal/store pride themselves on having the quickest and latest sneaker news and release information, and they really are culture drivers when it comes to it. Aside from trainers, HypeBae is also useful for finding new street brands to lust after as well as general lifestyle, fashion, and beauty. Similarly, Complex?? another American based online journal and store – is also quick on the ball.

Sneaker News
This is the real marketplace for those committed to having the newest trainers available. Not as aesthetically driven as the previous two selections, but nonetheless Sneaker News is a leader when it comes emerging global trends. One downside, however, is that they more-so cater for men than women, so it could prove difficult to find the right size.
Trainers don’t have to just be for comfort, though, as this woman at Paris Fashion Week perfectly demonstrates in style with vintage Chanel
Female Sneaker Fiend
Female Sneaker Fiend is the world’s largest online forum and marketplace for ambitious ladies in the street wear world. Apart from updates and news, it’s also a genuinely friendly online community that promotes street wear events, meetups, and information. Lots of swaps and internal buying happens too so if you’re on the lookout for something very special, this might be the place for you.
Once considered a subculture sported by outlandish young people influenced by American?and Japanese pop-culture, ‘street’ style?has cleverly adapted for busy metropolitan life. And we’re ready to embrace it. While this is not your indefinite guide to buying the best kicks, it’s a really good start if you’re looking to further your street wear footprint and be the first off the mark with the seasons must-have lace-ups.
