Everywhere we look, we’re seeing glossy, vinyl textures. At first, we were a little afraid of taking the plunge, but now, a vinyl jacket has shot to the top of our wish-lists.
It may not be a material we’re used to wearing, but every now and then, a trend like vinyl rears up and takes us by surprise. But this time, we’re really into it.
Although I raised my eyebrows when I saw these appearing on the high street, now I desperately want a vinyl coat of my own. Not for the faint-hearted, this is most certainly a statement piece. Despite the fabric, many of them come in very classic Crombie or trench coat styles, so there’s no need to feel completely out of your comfort zone.
We love the glossiness of vinyl, and the fun you can have whilst pairing it with other pieces in your wardrobe. You can play with different textures, like a fluffy or woolly knit to contrast with the shininess of the coat. Alternatively, the juxtaposition of a patent jacket over a plain t-shirt and jeans would elevate a simple outfit to something more interesting.
