The edit: What’s on fashion director Marie Kelly’s radar this week

Every Thursday, our fashion director, Marie Kelly, will bring you an exclusive edit of what caught her style-savvy eye that week, from industry insider news to incredible buys and everything in-between.

@phoebephilodiary

One of my favourite instagram accounts right now, this feed is a visual montage to Phoebe Philo’s incredible work while creative director of French brand Celine (formerly Céline until Hedi Slimane’s recent appointment). If you want to relish the fresh silhouettes, cool design details and all-round genius of the woman who transformed a heritage brand into a contemporary label that completely captured the imagination of modern women, go forth and scroll on.

Leather dresses

This incredible shot is an over from one of IMAGE Magazine’s October fashion shoots (styled by Brian Conway and photographed by Barry McCall) and I’ve been in love with this leather coat dress ever since it was shot. Unfortunately it’s €1,535 from Kenzo so it won’t be on any of my Christmas shopping lists. But I’ve been doing a bit of digging around and I came across this more affordable but very cool tunic leather dress from uterque.com. I’ll soften the silhouette with a polo neck and a pair of wide-leg trousers.

Meghan Markle in Irish Design

How stunning does Meghan Markle look in this full-length, embellished-shouldered gown by Irish designer Don O’Neill? O’Neill, who is based in New York, has a label called Theia, which was also chosen by Oprah Winfrey to wear to the Academy Awards in 2011. It’s amazing to see how beautifully Irish design stands up on an international platform.

New label alert (and it’s Irish!)

If you haven’t yet made it to Bloss in Dundrum Town Centre, make a point of doing so over the next couple of weeks. It really is a super curation of Irish design and is full of pieces that will fit effortlessly into your wardrobe. These sweaters from Irish knitwear brand Callan have my name on them. A lover of knits and colour-blocking, I noticed them immediately. Designed by Mary Callan, a graduate from Central Saint Martins in London and currently based in Belfast, these knits offer a bold, graphic aesthetic that feels modern and fresh. I absolutely love them.
