Five fabulous sales finds that will plug any holes in your winter wardrobe

Five fabulous sales finds that will plug any holes in your winter wardrobe

The January sales are my favourite, because, of course, they offer substantial, wear-forever pieces at a sniff of the real retail price. These sales are full of the type of clothes we anchor our wardrobes around, from sturdy wool overcoats to the quintessential black dress. Invest strategically and you’ll save yourself a fortune come September. Here are the key pieces on my sales shopping list.

Sophisticated and understated, this is my kind of little black dress. I love the fold detailing at the top – it’s almost origami-like – while the midi length is so easy to wear. This is just one of a multitude of amazing buys on Arket right now.

This style of short pea coat is a great closet staple. I own one in navy from Joseph, which I’ve had for many years and never grow tired of wearing, so I’m planning to add this camel version to my wardrobe too. The military-style double-breasted detailing looks pin sharp, but wearing the coat unbuttoned can create a softer silhouette.

My wardrobe is filled with blazers that I’ve bought through the years. They offer such an easy way to dress up jeans or add a masculine touch to a pleated skirt. I like this plaid version from Maje as it can introduce pattern, and personality, to smart basics.

I found my perfect leather skirt in Sandro late last year, so I’ve got my eyes on these Sandro leather trousers now. The quality of the skirt is so good, the leather so soft and tactile that it was worth the invest I made. I think these trousers will prove to be just as smart a buy.

I never grow tired of buying and wearing knits. I love their tactility and how they can soften smart tailoring or lessen the impact of shiny sequins. This pretty mohair jumper is gorgeous, with it’s lilac and earthy green tones.
