I have a silly number of denim jeans; from black and blue through to grey and white and in every silhouette and wash. Yet I still want more. What is it about a great pair of jeans that’s impossible to resist? It’s because they make you feel like your best self, isn’t it?
That’s why I’m on the hunt for some confidence-boosting denims (again). Here are five pairs I’ve picked out from the summer sales (bonus!).
There’s a very strong Seventies vibe emerging for Aw18, so these jeans will look utterly on-trend come September. They’re so Charlie’s Angels (the original), with their high waist, super-wide leg and indigo shade.
Wide-leg denims with contrast stitching, €29.99 (were €49.95) at Zara
These cropped jeans are simply fabulous. I love the metallic striped hem detailing, which makes them smart enough for both work and evening wear.
Striped hem cropped denims, €20 (were €64) at Topshop
Get a touch of Alexa Chung’s style with her high-rise red jeans, on sale now at Net-a-porter. This shade of deep red is perfect for darkening autumnal days, plus it complements so many other colours, as you can see below.

Finding jeans that have a point of difference is key to keeping your denim look fresh. These Massimo Dutti denims look really high-end. They’re slick but cool.
Slim-fit denims with turn-ups, €29.95 (were €59.95) at Massimo Dutti
I bought something similar to these white denim culottes in River Island recently and I’m getting so much wear out of them. White denim looks fresh without losing its utilitarian roots, and it looks great in winter when layered with oatmeal-hued neutrals.
Patch pocket wide-leg denims, €35 (were €64) at Warehouse
