Four body-positive lingerie brands you need on your radar

Lingerie was designed to be hidden under layers, but delicate intimates can still make us feel great about ourselves. Lingerie doesn’t have to be sexy to be beautiful, but can be comfortable and flattering, whatever your shape and size.

Many lingerie brands advertise fabulously tall, model-thin bodies, which isn’t realistic. But there’s a plethora of other labels working diligently to overrule stereotypes; promoting bodies of all shapes, colours, and sizes. If you’re looking for something special for your underwear drawer, these are the body-positive brands shaking-up the industry, gracefully.

Aerie

Lace racerback bralette, €21.86 at aerie.com

American label Aerie is now shipping to Ireland, hooray! For SS19, the brand released its #AerieREAL Role Model™ campaign, strengthening its commitment to body positivity. The women featured will promote real conversations around body confidence by sharing their own stories. The brand’s super cute bralettes come in sizes ranging from XXS to XXL, with D and DD cups too.

Lonely

Lulu French underwire bra in ochre, €66.43; brief, €36.24 at lonelylabel.com

The goal of this New Zealand based lingerie company is to encourage freedom of expression. The brand elegantly abandons traditional marketing through the Lonely Girls Project. This project is an online journal featuring candid portraits of inspiring women in their own spaces wearing Lonely, their way.

Savage X Fenty, Lingerie by Rihanna

Embroidered lace bra, €59.29; high leg lace thong, €18.91 at savagex.com

Queen Rihanna shut down NYFW last year with an incredibly inspiring show. Not only praised for her inclusivity, Rihanna brought a seriously chic line of intimates for a consumer of all shapes and sizes.

Impish Lee

Customise yours at impishlee.com
