When it comes to Kate Middleton’s fashion choices, I favour her classic style. Yes, she can look demure, but she’s regal; elegant and befitting of her title as the Duchess of Cambridge. She is doing something right in the style stakes – her choices make global headlines. Mixing high-street with designer names is her forte, but above all, she sticks to what she likes; never straying too far from her comfort zone. There’s something refreshing about that; it’s an act that requires self-confidence.
Naturally, the biggest problem her avid followers have is that her dresses usually sell out within hours, leaving us mortals little hope of even trying them on. Which is why I was delighted to see that you can (still) buy her latest dress in Arnotts. Yesterday, she wore the Goat Eloise Dress at a charity function, and the brand’s AW17 range is available in store. It’s short yes, but can be worn (even in this weather) with tights.
And it’s very Kate: contemporary yet simple and elegant – a winter wardrobe staple that can be worn day or night. A line with a high neck (and comfortable, being that she’s prgenant) and statement buttons for detail (signature detailing is a focal point of Goat’s aesthetic; one stand-out detail per garment), you can team it with flats for a more casual, daytime look or heels (and bare legs if you’re feeling brave) for night.
She accessorised with Tod’s pumps, a Mulberry clutch that coordinated in colour, and Mappin & Webb earrings to finish.
Goat, Eloise button dress in navy, €540. Available in-store at Arnotts.
Consider it an investment buy with Christmas party season being so near.
If you’re a fan of this understated ensemble, you’ll love Goats entire AW17 collection. Velvet features strongly, and its key pieces include their silk blouses, Denver cropped trousers, Errol jumpsuit (with velvet waistband) and the classic tweed Eris Coat.
And if it’s good enough for Kate…
The Eloise button dress – as well as other pieces from their latest collection – can be bought in-store (not online, we’re afraid) in Arnotts Department Store now.
