Beware. Leggings are back and everyone is wearing fashion’s most marmite item – here is how to wear them now
There was a time when leggings were seen as the devil’s work in the fashion world.
Leggings were to be only worn during exercise or at home away from prying eyes. Less socially accepted than tracksuits, leggings were social pariahs. Seen as ugly and undesirable.
But I have a thing for underdogs. Whether it be in sport or normal life, the ones you never expect seem to make the biggest impact.
I also adore comfort and possess a need for the feeling of plush fabric against my skin. Leggings are the trouser equivalent of a nice hug. There for you when you aren’t feeling your best, leggings move with you and help you feel a little more at ease.
I own a pair of the infamous Spanx leather-look leggings and after some pulling and tugging they became one of the most worn items in my wardrobe.
Thankfully, it seems the world’s biggest designers are taking note, with Chanel producing a very special pair of logoed leggings. Expect this design to be replicated by the high-street very soon.

Unlike a simple pair of jeans or trousers, styling leggings requires more thought. Due to the lack of coverage, long tops and jumpers ideally should be worn. However, this tip is entirely up to the individual to utilise. Wear them whichever way you desire but for those worried, make the top half of the outfit oversized.
When dressed as such and paired with knee-high boots and a mid-length coat, the outfit is one of the chicest you can put on during this particular period of the year.
Leggings also act as appropriate rainwear and make an otherwise basic outfit a lot more streamlined and stylish when worn with on-trend chunky boots.

Split front leggings are a high fashion take on the otherwise simple design and add a much welcome point of difference to any outfit.

Don’t be afraid of printed leggings, they add fun and luminosity to an outfit and provide you with serious style kudos.

And when all else fails, a pair of leggings worn with trainers, a trench and a hat can keep you safe and secure on the most dreary of days.
