More details about Princess Eugenie’s wedding reception dress have been revealed
17th Nov 2018
Princess Eugenie’s wedding day was undoubtedly a day of joy. As she wed longtime boyfriend Jack Brooksbank at Windsor Castle last month, the beaming bride looked thrilled, the couple utterly in love. While their big day was subjected to an irritating amount of comparison to that of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s, it had, overall, a more personal feel – the day felt like it was just for them.
And in terms of her wedding gown, the Princess of York wowed in a gorgeous Peter Pilotto gown, chosen specifically with a low-back detail so that she could proudly display her scars from the extensive scoliosis surgery she had when she was 12. It was, however, her ‘second’ gown of the day, worn to a private reception she had at her family home that really wowed.

Princess Eugenie, currently ninth in line to the throne, made a unique statement with her fashion choice for the evening event; preferring a gown with colour as opposed to a similarly traditional white second outfit as both Kate Middleton and Meghan Marke opted for. It was inspired by the beauty of Windsor, the surrounding countryside and the “blush of an English rose,” according to designer Zac Posen who created the gown, especially for the princess.

While the official portraits from the event only show the front of the princess’ blush caped dress, Posen has shared new shots, taken from inside his atelier during production, which, similar to the Pilotto gown, reveal the dramatic back for the first time.
The dress featured a stunning chiffon train and cape that cascaded down from the shoulders, with a line of buttons down the spine. Most noticeably, the design included a plunging back with beautiful detailing.

Prince Andrew, the Duke of York and Princess Eugenie’s father revealed further details about the gown in a statement: As a nod to the family, the White Rose of York was also embroidered on the shoulder and back, to hold the cape and the dress together. “The White Rose of York is subtly embroidered on both the shoulder and back which hold together the cape. Princess Eugenie is wearing diamond and emerald drop earrings which were a Wedding gift from the Groom. Princess Eugenie also wears a hair slide belonging to Her Majesty The Queen.”
