Gingham for spring? It might not be groundbreaking, but it makes JW Anderson’s latest foray into the high street with Uniqlo shine
With a particular talent for creating the ‘it’ item of the season (the trench, the harness dress, the bag, to name a few), Northern Irish talent JW Anderson has just released his second collaboration with high street favourite Uniqlo — and it’s summer ready clothing at its finest.
For his Autumn/Winter collection with Uniqlo late last year, Anderson opted for a particular pattern to encompass the mood of the season — red plaid and flannel spread across hoodies, blouses and accessories captured the cosy, outdoorsy mood that we all wish we could live by in the dark days of winter.
Now, as we head into (slightly uncertain) summer days, Anderson has set his sights on a decidedly brighter pattern — gingham, in every shade.
Gingham can run the risk of looking little-girly, but here, the print is given a classic makeover. Tiered dresses and skirts, which are all the rage in every collection these days, are fresh and breezy in navy blue, with bright rainbow dresses nailing the Instagram moment we all crave.
Denim and cotton are the airy materials of choice, designed to keep us comfortable while looking summer ready. Trucker jackets cover up outfits as a final touch, while tote bags and scarves act as the perfect easy accompaniments.
It’s hard to choose one or two pieces to order (Uniqlo sadly doesn’t have an Irish store yet) but the great thing about this collection is its versatility — one piece paired with what’s already in your wardrobe can easily update it for summer.
