Oscar De La Renta’s latest bridal collection is simply stunning

Oscar De La Renta’s latest bridal collection is simply stunning

Oscar De La Renta’s namesake label certainly has its fingers in many pies, from chic swimwear (only launched in 2016) and seasonal ready-to-wear collections to costume jewellery and couture gowns in lavish lace and tulle. But when it boils down to excellence, not many other designers do bridal-wear quite like De La Renta does.

Though it must be exceptionally hard to stay fresh, De La Renta seems to do it with instinctive ease, or at least the label’s two Creative Directors, Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim, do. The pair took over the label in 2016 and continue to inject forward-thinking objectives into the brand’s eveningwear, occasionwear and, of course, the bridal collection. Oscar De La Renta isn’t the place to go if you want a bright lavender wedding dress, but the new collection is diverse in its silhouettes, cuts, shapes and materials and reflects a modern buyer.

There is, of course, a selection of very traditional dresses that combine sweetheart necklines with billowing skirts; the real-life image of a classic fantasy fairytale. Interspersed among these are a delightful selection of meticulously crafted, low-cut, sleeveless waterfall gowns with over-the-top bow detailing, an exaggerated laser-cut A-line gown, an allover lace gown with a semi-sheer skirt and even a swooping, off-the-shoulder-style mini-length wedding dress with an extravagant train (below). Whether you’re engaged or just browsing (hey, no shame, me too), consider these stunning gowns for your big day.
