The 7 shoe trends you will most definitely be wearing this season

The 7 shoe trends you will most definitely be wearing this season

Wondering what shoe to invest in? Here are seven of the biggest shoe trends everyone will be wearing this coming season

When we talk about fashion trends, we sometimes forget about shoes.

I don’t agree with the notion that accessories are the finishing touch to an outfit  – I believe it’s all about the shoes. Some outfits get lost in the vortex of forgotten outfits and the reason is the shoes were usually below par.

A great pair of shoes will take you far, both literally and figuratively.

This is why we decided to take a look at the seven shoe trends you will be wearing this season. From mules to chunky boots to loafers – this season is a mixed bag of statement-makers and classic shakers.

Make your spring style all about the footwear and your outfits will thank you for it.

Chunky boots

Everyone knows by now that chunky boots are to be the shoe of 2020. While they look scary at first glance, they are one of the most wearable trends of the coming season. Pair with jeans, dresses, skirts and whatever else is in your clothing arsenal.

Mules

Heel leather mules, €49.99 at Mango

I adore a good mule. A mule is one of the comfiest high-heel options you can find and thankfully, SS20 glitters with choices. These Mango beauties will be ideal for any spring and summer weddings but work just as well under cropped jeans too.

Ballerina pumps

Want to look achingly French without the effort? Then go for a heeled ballerina pump. French ladies are experts at wearing a dress and cute little heels and now you can too. Out of all the shoes to go for this season, these will work the hardest in your wardrobe.

Platform heels

ASOS Design nutshell platform barely-there heeled sandals, €41.48 at ASOS

Platform heels were the heel du jour in the noughties and early 2010’s but somewhere along the way designers decided they didn’t want to continue breaking the legs of women. However, now they are back in all forms. From 1970s nostalgia heels to more modern barely-there creations – the platform is making a statement. Start training those ankles.

Loafers

Leather loafers with chain link, €115 at Uterque

A good loafer is like a good friend; stable and reliable. If you are caught in a footwear conundrum, a loafer will be there to solve it. What may be seen as a workwear shoe is actually a dark horse when it comes to occasionwear fashion. If you aren’t into the pain of high-heels, a loafer will present you with the gift of understated glamour.

Trainers

Puma RS-X3 trainers in pink, €124.43 at ASOS

Trainers have slowly moved away from the realm of exercise and into the fashion consciousness. Each season we see a new interpretation of the classic and this year it’s all about colour. The brighter the better, and you get extra points for going full-on fluorescent.

Thongs

Gianvito Rossi Calypso 70 leather sandals, €490 at Net A Porter

Please, give these a chance. I know they look like a try-hard flip flop but I promise they will make any outfit you wear look like it has come straight off the catwalk. Go for good base colours like white, black and tan for ultimate wearability and versatility.
