Shop your favourite trends from the 2019 Grammy Awards

Shop your favourite trends from the 2019 Grammy Awards

If you’re looking ahead to spring’s upcoming trends, the 2019 Grammy awards are a good place to start. The awards shone a style spotlight on everything from chiffon ruffles, feathered details, yellow hues and pretty pleats, to fruity tailoring.

The spring catwalks cascaded in ruffled everything and anything. Designers like Simone Rocha and Marc Jacobs introduced dramatic flourishes to shoulders and waistlines, and red carpet celebrities like Lady Gaga at the Grammy Awards are taking note (which means we can too). But how to apply this trend to every day?  Think about opting for a short midi dress embellished in a few fuzzy frills. And instead of head to toe sequins for the office, you could opt for a sequinned cami. It’s a trend worth playing around with for warmer days.

If you’re feeling extra sassy, fantastical feathers from Valentino dominated the SS19 catwalks and kept the carpet ultra-feminine.  While I’d love to slay every Saturday night in a pink, feathery Ralph & Russo dress like Anna Kendrick at this year’s awards, a cropped pant with an understated feather detail gives a great transitional touch as we move into warmer weather.

We love that Miley Cyrus scrapped evening dresses in favour of an effortlessly chic tuxedo at the awards. It’s a look favoured not only by Celine, but also by Giambattista Valli who opted for crisp white tones. Trade in your traditional pantsuit for something with a splash of colour, like this bright yellow two-piece from Zara.

If you’re a lover of bright shades, you’re in luck for the season to come as warm yellows are big news. For a sophisticated example of how to work it, turn to Escada where butter soft hues seamlessly fused together. For serious style, take inspiration from Victoria Kuhne who championed an embroidered Gucci jacket on the carpet, but made it spring friendly with a bare leg.

Below, check out our favourite stand-out trends that were reflected on the red carpet and how you can incorporate them into your SS19 wardrobe.
