From his does-it-all coat to his must-have knit, here are Adam Walsh’s favourite fashion finds.
Freelance fashion stylist and co-host of the Cramp Your Style podcast, Adam Walsh is a hugely talented Irish creative with a knack for pulling together a look like no other. Here, we get an exclusive glimpse into his enviable wardrobe.
How would you describe your personal style?
I think if you were to ask my friends, they could say eclectic. Over the last two years, I’ve really experimented with my style and I think I’ve gotten into a really nice groove as of the last six/seven months. I would describe my style as unisex, casual and attainable. I love to play around with colours, textures and silhouettes and mix it up.
The go-to shoe
I’m a huge fan of chunky platform boots. I’ve worn my beloved platform Dr. Martens into the ground at this stage. However, shoes are the one thing I hate spending money on because I really get my wear out of them, I’m known for destroying my shoes.
The does-it-all coat
I have amassed quite the collection of leather jackets. I’m currently wearing my black soft-leather vintage bomber jacket the most. I wore it lots during the winter with knits and boots and it kept me so warm. I can’t wait to style it with some summer outfits.
The perfect jeans
I used to be a vintage Levi’s lover through and through. However, because I have a bit of a peculiar shape for a guy – I have quite a small waist and really long legs – I started buying Lee’s jeans and I find that they tend to fit me better.
The must-have knitwear
At the moment I’m currently loving Irelands Eye Knitwear, I was kindly gifted the gorgeous Liberty jumper from their cashmere-wool blend. It’s super lightweight but still has the Aran look and feel. I am also a huge fan of Miss She’s Got Knits, I have pulled lots from them for shoots before and their colour range and silhouettes are chef’s kiss.
The everyday jewellery
I’m not a huge jewellery wearer day-to-day as I’m a fiend for losing things so I tend to buy more affordable jeweller. I’m currently obsessed with Betty and Biddy and Zo&Co. I get to pull some beautiful jewellery as part of my job and I also am a huge fan of Gabsluk, One Dame Lane and Tatiana Nestor for more unique pieces.
The wear-everywhere handbag
You will never not see me without a tote bag, I’m constantly picking up new ones. I find them super practical. For anyone interested in proper handbags I’m a huge fan of the Irish brand Peelo. I’ve worked with founder Julie on a couple of brand campaigns and her bags are just beautiful.
The Sunday cosy casual look
I think I’m a bit of a freak for this, but I will always be in a pair of jeans. My typical Sunday casual look would be a light-wash pair of jeans with a knit and my navy Burberry trench, usually accessorised with a white pair of trainers and a cap and sunglasses.
The ultimate pyjamas
I’m not a huge pyjama person but I always love a good cotton/linen set.
The party look essential
I always find it a bit hard dressing for occasions because I wouldn’t be into typical menswear. I love to mix print and texture whenever I go out, I’m a huge fan of a fun trouser whether that be a metallic red or a pair of zebra print jeans. I do like to keep things casual though so will usually pair these with a plain black jumper and a platform loafer.
The most treasured piece
I think my most treasured piece would be my vintage leather biker jacket. I picked this up in Flip Vintage in Temple Bar. This style of jacket has become super popular on the highstreet recently but in my opinion, you just can’t beat the authentic vintage leather ones.
The wishlist item
I’m constantly always on the lookout for the perfect pair of cowboy boots!
The vintage shop to know
The places to get to know have to be Flip, Badlands and Sharpsville in Temple Bar, they’re a chain of vintage stores next door to each other just by Central Bank. That’s where I buy about 90% of my leather jackets, blazers, shirts etc. They have such a good mix of wearable vintage that anyone could integrate into their everyday style.
Who do you look to for style on social media?
I’m obsessed with @izzipoopi on Instagram and TikTok, her style is so out there – it’s just incredible to look at. I also love @gabrielconover, another TikTok find. He also loves to mix menswear and womenswear fluidly and he has such an enviable vintage collection. I get so much inspiration from Irish online creators as well. I love @gabsluk, @karaosullivan and @johannadooley from greens are good for you and @aideenfeely.
The beauty essentials
As of recently, I’ve been loving a fresh-faced, no make-up make-up look. I’ve been obsessed with skincare for a little while now and love the Skinmade range, particularly the Eavanna Breen x Skinmade Hyaluronic Acid and the Skin Made SPF Oil. Usually, I’m wearing just those, moisturiser and blush. I love the Sculpted by Aimee cream blushes and I can never leave the house without a few spritzes of my Diptyque Do Son and Atelier Cologne Clementine California.
