The high street hero pieces to bag before they sell out
Without the luxury of trying on clothes in a changing room, we’re looking to Instagram to see if the clothes online accurately portray what’s going to land at our front door. Right now, Instagram is filled with summer collections of our favourite high street haunts.
From a timeless, cosy dress from & Other Stories to Mango’s trending oversized collar shirt that looks way more expensive than its €29.99 price tag, keep scrolling to see the latest high street items taking over my Instagram feed.
& Other Stories’ puffy sleeve dress
Just dropped from the & Other Stories Stockholm atelier, wear this puffy sleeve dress at home now with Birkenstocks and someday soon, fingers crossed, while drinking rosé in a garden with your friends post-pandemic.
& Other Stories voluminous sleeve midi dress, €149
Arket’s linen shorts
Make lazy day comfy shorts look luxe in Arket’s soft pure linen relaxed shorts, available in light beige, toasty beige and black.
Mango’s padded shoulder t-shirt
Set to be summer’s most popular top, meet the sleeveless padded t-shirt. Heres how it’s done: sleeveless, rounded neck, oversized shoulders, add layered gold chains and you have an elevated way to make jeans and a tee luxe. This one from The Frankie Shop above is always selling out, as are the new black, grey and striped versions from Mango, below. Here’s a hack I learned on TikTok: before you invest, trial the trend by tucking your t-shirt sleeve into your bra strap. Honestly, the genius of teens on TikTok blows my mind every day.
Mango shoulder pad t-shirt, €15.99
Mango’s collared shirt
Looking well-dressed from the waist up on Zoom just takes an oversized collar. Make it granny chic by peeking it out from under a jumper or easy luxe with blue jeans, like Scandi influencer Pernielle Teisbaek.
Mango double baby-collar shirt, €29.99

H&M’s cashmere jumper
Forget garish, oversized logos and connotations of P.E.— polo shirts have been modernised for SS20 thanks to Rejina Pyo, Khaite and Prada. The key is to find muted, earthy tones, soft textures like waffle and fine-ribbed knits and small details like little buttons or a low neck; case in point, this biscuity cashmere H&M jumper.
H&M short-sleeved cashmere jumper, €69.99
COS’s knitted co-ord
Massive congratulations to you if you are among the elite of women who can dress in the sleek, shapeless clothing of COS and look pared-back and chic. I assume this ability goes hand-in-hand with the elite of women who can curl their hair with a hair straightener, and we are all in awe of you. I know that I would look like an oversized toddler in this beautiful COS knit duo but if I could look more Jackie O and less Justin Bieber, it’s all I’d wear.
COS knitted cotton-mix vest top, €59
Topshop’s floral tiered dress
If you’ve yet to add a universally flattering tiered dress to your wardrobe, make it this flouncy, feminine floral print Topshop dress.
Topshop ivory floral tiered satin slip dress, €49
Arket’s long satin slip dress
The high street staple your summer wardrobe is missing is a perfect peachy slip dress; wear it on its own on sunshiney days, with a t-shirt underneath and blazer over at night, or with cowboy boots in a field as per Lucy Williams.
Arket long satin slip dress, €79
