This week on Smart Casual: All things Irish design with NCAD’s Angela O’Kelly
05th Jun 2019
Smart Casual is IMAGE’s first fashion podcast, in collaboration with Kildare Village. In our bi-weekly chats, we examine why we wear the clothes we do and deal with personal style in a way that speaks to you.
The Simone Rochas, the Richard Malones, the Helen Steeles, and the Don O’Neills… they all had to start somewhere, and it was right here in Ireland that their lights first started to shine. This week on Smart Casual, our hosts are focusing on their love of Irish design, and the importance of celebrating home-grown talent. With high street fast fashion taking a nosedive, our hosts go over the benefits of buying slow, local designs and why their own favourite designers have carved out a spot in their personal styles.
Very fittingly, our guest this week is Head of Design for Body and Environment at the National College of Art and Design Angela O’Kelly. Angela sits down with Marie this week to talk through her career to date, how her interests in art and design intersect with her personal style and how she spots the prodigées every year at the NCAD Graduate’s final year shows.
