The trick is to balance?light and dark tones and to mix clashing textures – a juxtaposition of shades and fabrics creates an essential contrast. Blue is easier to colour-block in this way, as you can incorporate denim. Add to that shades of cyan, cornflour and cerulean in a mash-up of woollens, sheer skirts, silks and faux fur, and you’ve got a look that’s utterly modern and anything but monotonous. Then add accents of patent and sequins through cleverly chosen accessories.

WHY WE LOVE IT?If put together with flair, a single shade worn head to toe looks effortlessly stylish.

WHERE TO SHOP IT?Labels such as Sandro, Maje and The Kooples offer strong separates in complementary colour stories. Mix and match to create?the right effect.
