Yes the cool kids wear them, but I’m 43 and I’m ready to buy a pair of dungarees. They no longer have their hillbilly associations. In fact, they’ve been smartened up considerably to suit every woman’s style and personality. Here’s the pair I’ve got my eye on, and a few more that might make you rethink this trend.
Imagine these dungarees with a fabulous pair of heels and some great jewellery. That’s how I’ll be wearing them. Made from a slightly padded satin fabric, these dungarees playfully mix up traditional utilitarian detailing (zips and eyelets) with this glamorous fabric choice.

These Topshop dungarees are such an elevated version of what we imagine dungarees to be. The high belted waist, cut-out detailing and wide legs make this piece perfect for evening wear too.

Perfectly tailored and in a smart check print, these overalls are perfectly appropriate for office wear. Pair with a simple, crisp white shirt for an understated but strong fashion look.

Crisp linen and clean lines. These overalls are simply stunning; understated chic at its best. I love the minimal detailing in the form of two exposed buttons.

Grown-up but low-key, and suitable for a woman from 25 to 55, this gorgeous striped jumpsuit looks so fresh and comfortable. Perfect for city breaks, I’ll be bringing this with me to Milan when I travel there in a couple of weeks.

I love the oversized cut of these overalls and how it’s balanced beautifully by the feminine halter-neck style. Again, these are perfect summer wear for women who like to conceal rather than reveal.
