From charity shops to Designer Exchange, these Irish stylists know a thing or two about scoping out a pre-loved gem.
Stylist and creative director Courtney Smith
Known for her fashion prowess, all of Courtney Smith’s most treasured items happen to be vintage discoveries…
I have quite a number of treasured pieces in my wardrobe, I am someone who definitely develops an attachment to clothing and have suitcases of things I couldn’t bare to part with. It’s usually the vintage pieces I discover that are my gems, such as my lemon yellow Balmain blazer.
Freelance fashion stylist and all-round creative Adam Walsh
Co-host of the Cramp Your Style podcast, Adam Walsh is a hugely talented Irish creative with a keen eye for pulling together a look like no other.
I think my most treasured piece would be my vintage leather biker jacket. I picked this up in Flip Vintage in Temple Bar. This style of jacket has become super popular recently but in my opinion you just can’t beat the authentic vintage leather ones.
Fashion stylist, social media manager, and content creator Ali Byrne
The Cork native draws inspiration from Scandinavian street style, and her pared back aesthetic has a certain edge to it that makes her an instant Instagram follow.
I always treasure a second-hand/vintage piece more than anything because the reward of finding something so unique is the best feeling ever. I own a pair of Prada loafers which I bought from The Luxury Exchange and they were one of my favourite purchases ever.
Fashion stylist and consultant Roisin Kelly
From working with high street brands in London to running a sustainable fashion start-up in Dublin, Roisin Kelly is a stylist and retail consultant advocating for slow fashion and supporting small businesses.
I have a pair of pink Jacquemus trousers that I found in NCBI for an absolute bargain. They are my most treasured piece right now.
Stylist Becca Boyce
Becca Boyce is an up-and-coming fashion stylist based between London and Dublin. Her work is eccentric and surrealist with a great passion for the unconventional.
I hold all my clothing near and dear to my heart but my most prized possession is my limited edition Galliano for Dior Saddle Bag. I got it once again from Designer Exchange, they are the best for vintage and preloved designer bags. The bag features the koi fish print and is from 2002 with only 1,000 made in the world. This bag is my pride and joy. Although I cherish it, I am never afraid to wear it. I think if you buy an expensive bag or accessory you should wear it and not keep it locked away only for special occasions.
