Gwen Stefani’s alternative wedding reception dress is divine

For her second marriage to fellow singer Blake Shelton, Stefani put a slight twist on the traditional when it came to her wedding gown(s) of choice.

The No Doubt front-woman exchanged vows with musician Blake Shelton at the weekend, and though she chose a traditional white wedding dress – and entrusted Vera Wang with her gown – a handful of alternative touches made Stefani’s dress – and a second change into a dress for the reception – all her own.

Stefani wore a custom lily-white silk georgette and hand-tumbled tulle gown with a plunging neckline and a cutaway back.  Her chapel-length veil was hand-embroidered with the couple’s names, and those of the bride’s three children:  Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo flanked by two white roses at the hem of the veil.

For the reception, the bride changed into a second Vera Wang dress: a custom lily-white Italian silk crepe and hand tumbled tulle strapless mini dress with hand-pieced silk, crystal, and sequin embroidered foliage delicately trickling from the waist down the skirt. The embroidery included a pair of hand-sewn love birds symbolising the couple. They are joined by three baby love birds representing Gwen’s children.

The look was complete with cowboy boots, fishnet tights, and a hairbow. “You need a party dress when u get to marry Blake Shelton,” the new bride wrote on Instagram.

It’s similar to the star putting her own spin on bridal attire when she wore a dip dye wedding gown with a hot-pink hem by John Galliano when she married her first husband, Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale, in London in 2002.

It’s also noted that she wasn’t afraid to go all-out for her second wedding – something we very much approve of.
