H&M’s AW22 collection is an ode to out-of-this-world fun

With only a few weeks left of summer, the style set are already thinking ahead to autumn/winter, but H&M’s latest collection will see the fun of festival fashion continue long into the colder months.

H&M’s AW22 collection is an ode to out-of-this-world fun

Inspired by fashion’s space age and modern missions to Mars, the new collection blurs the lines between reality and fantasy. With a bold colour palette and streamlined silhouettes, gravity-defying fabrics and cutting-edge accessories, the line offers a futuristic take on minimalism. Think Dua Lipa, Grace Jones, Róisín Murphy; all of whom nail this look with their own day-to-day attire.

Amongst the collection’s key pieces, you’ll find a blue, crushed velvet pantsuit, a cocooning fuchsia anorak and a strong-shouldered chocolate overcoat. Electric blue, neon yellow and silver dominate the colour palette, while zebra print, celestial swirls and sequins complete the aesthetic.

Everything is laden with attitude and a zest for adventure. A ruffled dress and high-shine metallic coordinating shirt and trousers promise star power come cocktail hour, while in accessories, sparkling thigh-high boots, sci-fi sunglasses and a braided rhinestone collar necklace are the conversation pieces that will help to transform any given look. Every item in the collection is made from more sustainably sourced materials including Tencel™, recycled polyester, recycled wool and recycled brass.

“With a mood board filled with images of space, the design team thought about what to take on an intergalactic trip. We decided on a mix of practical pieces mixed with fabulous items. The silver coordinating set is my favourite look, but I’d wear the silver trousers with the padded grey T-shirt and the rhinestone necklace – it’s the perfect alternative to a party dress,” Linda Wikell, concept designer for H&M Studio, said of the new collection.

“We wanted our customers to dare to dream,” Ann-Sofie Johansson, creative advisor at H&M agreed.
