How to wear burgundy this season

How to wear burgundy this season

This season's it colour, there are plenty of ways to wear burgundy this autumn. Here are five outfit ideas to get you started.

Burgundy tights

Burgundy tights have soared in popularity this season with searches up on both Google Trends and Pinterest. An easy way to add a pop of colour to an outfit, follow Zara McDermott’s lead and pair them with matching boots to make a real statement.

A burgundy scarf

An oversized scarf is a great investment for the colder months. Soft as butter, it’s great for keeping your face and ears covered up and can even double as a hat should you find yourself sans umbrella.

A burgundy coat

If you plan on splashing out on a winter coat this year, burgundy is the way to go. Richer and more luxe than black, it’s just as versatile and will elevate whatever you wear underneath – a huge bonus when, more often than not, the coat is the outfit.

A burgundy cardi

There’s nothing I love more than a cosy cardigan. An easy way to “winterise” your favourite summer pieces, you can layer them over white T-shirts, slip dresses or wear as the star of the show with a fabulous sude skirt à la Stephanie Arant.

Burgundy trousers

I often find myself lusting over Louise Thompson’s wardrobe – she wears colour so well and I’ve had my eye on this ‘fit for quite some time. Sadly the Farm Rio blazer is out of stock (and well outside my budget) but a pair of wide-leg burgundy trousers are easier to come by and will work wonders for your workwear wardrobe. If bold colours and patterns are a bit too much for you, stick to a solid colour on top.
