IMAGE's own Emily O'Neill has become the office go-to for beauty recommendations, as she always has her eye on the latest and greatest Irish-made products. Here, we take a peek inside her beauty bag and discover her top 10 finds for gorgeous, glowing skin.
Just like we rotate our wardrobe every season, I also rotate my make-up and skincare. Different times of the year call for different products and needs. In the wintertime, I tend to use heavier products to prevent dry skin and in the summer I will use lighter, glowy products. So let’s delve into my summer beauty bag and see what gems I have been using….
Throughout the summer months, I always use a gradual moisturiser tan. At the moment I am loving the Vita Liberata Fabulous Gradual Tanning Lotion. I tend to have drier skin on my arms and legs so a gradual tan is perfect for adding a little bit of colour but it also keeps your skin super hydrated. I usually pop on a light layer before bed about twice a week and it takes the ghostly look off me!
Skincare always takes priority for me. There is nothing I love more than fresh, glowing skin throughout the summer. And let’s face it, it doesn’t come naturally to me. It took a little bit of time to perfect but I have finally nailed my routine. I always go heavy on my skincare and light on my make-up and it works a treat!
There are three skincare brands that I absolutely adore – Ella & Jo, Caudalie and Image Skincare.
I always start my prep with the Brighten & Glow Hydrating Exfoliating Cleanser from Ella & Jo which is amazing for gently exfoliating your skin whilst adding a burst of hydration to it. A perfect companion for this cleanser is the Vinoperfect Brightening Micropeel Foam from Caudalie. Packed full AHAs which are known to stimulate cell renewal and result in a brighter complexion, the micro peel foam is essential in my routine… This combination is to die for! If you want brighter, glowing skin then look no further than these two products.
The one product you will find multiple of in my make-up bag is SPF. I always have a thicker cream-based sunscreen and a mist to hand. An SPF mist is brilliant for reapplying over your make-up. This summer, my daily SPF of choice is Image Daily Prevention Sheer Matte Moisturizer SPF30. The matte finish helps to control my oily T-zone and the neutral shade is amazing for preventing flashback. Flashback was something I never thought about until I started creating beauty content online and now I always ensure to use an SPF that doesn’t leave a white cast.
On days when I am out and about I always carry a mist SPF with me. Throughout the day I will reapply it over my makeup. I find comfort in knowing I am protected from the sun all day long. Ella & Jo’s Invisible SPF 30 Mist is my current favourite. The bottle is small enough to fit in my handbag and the mist is so fine that it dries in almost instantly. It is also packed full of nourishing ingredients including antioxidants and hydrating agents which help to replenish and rejuvenate your skin.
Because I create beauty content, most people assume I wear a lot of make-up. Well, that’s not the case. During the week when I am working, I wear little to no make-up. I love to let my skin breathe as much as I can. I am happy with a pop of blush and a touch of lip balm. SOSU Cosmetics were onto something when they created their Liquid Blush in the shade ‘Peach Glow’. It adds the most gorgeous pop of colour to your cheeks but is so light and sheer that it feels like you have nothing on. I will definitely be adding the shade ‘Rose Radiance’ to my collection too.
Another staple in my beauty bag is Beauty Balm from Sculpted By Aimee. It is one of the most universal products I have used. It can be used on the lips, cuticles and even on a patch of dry skin. I love the glossy finish it leaves on the lips and I always use it as a lip mask before popping on lip liner and lipstick. It really is an all-rounder!
The final product you will find in my bag this summer is Bare By Vogue’s Hydrating Facial Mist. Firstly, the smell is so nostalgic! It brings me back to childhood holidays being lathered in that sweet-smelling sunscreen for children.
Now for the product itself… I cannot describe the glow it gives to the skin. I spray it all over my face, chest and arms and when the light hits it is magic! Think golden hour on a white sandy beach… But you are actually in Ireland during a very dull and wet summer.
