Jennie McGinn: A week in my wardrobe

Jennie McGinn: A week in my wardrobe

While her day job specialities are in email, e-commerce and social media, beyond that Jennie McGinn’s true passion is fashion. A staunch supporter of a good blazer, her outfits often include a pop of colour and of course, some element of Irish design. She shares a week in her wardrobe below.

MONDAY

I attended a gorgeous Benecol event today – a live podcast of The Simpler Life with James Kavanagh, William Murray and Louise McSharry. I’m a big fan of tracksuit pants with a blazer, so I was thrilled to get my hands on a pair of adidas cow-print, wide-legged satin pants that I paired with a tailored Cleo Prickett blazer. The goal was to create an effortlessly cool oversized white shirt look, but creasing got the better of me, so the whole look didn’t flow as desired. I paired it with a JW Anderson bag, Monto & Perri tie pin and jewellery from Somas, GABSLUK and Sorcha O’Raighallaigh necklaces.

TUESDAY

I delivered a talk on the magic of marketing for Kildare LEO as part of Enterprise Week and I decided to go for “party on the top, business on the bottom”. The Paris Texas croc boots are one of my first Vinted purchases (the first of many, I sense), and I paired them with a River Island Studio pleated skirt and this vintage-inspired leopard print box jacket from American label Nocturne.

WEDNESDAY

Another day, another workshop. Today I delivered a talk on consumer trends to Retail Ireland and I went for an oversized check blazer from Aggi with a black pleated skirt from Zara and Alexander McQueen loafers (another Brown Thomas sale purchase). I toned it down with just a single necklace (GABSLUK) for a change…

That evening, I went to the first IMAGE Business Club event of 2025 with some of my Going for Growth buddies (including Marissa Carter who was speaking and Michelle from Platform55, overall winners of last year’s PITCH Business of the Year). I paired my leopard print Nocturne cropped jacket with a hot pink pair of Rotate trousers… you’d be surprised how versatile a pair of hot pink pants are!

THURSDAY

I contributed to a panel on leadership for The Club women’s network and I was in a pink mood. I wore a Warehouse pink dress with my Cleo Prickett blazer cinched on top with a candy-pink belt and my white croc Paris Texas boots again. And obviously, I had to match the belt with my bag – that’s a thing, right? The dress was steamed to high heavens beforehand, but as you can see, I have a recurring struggle with the concept of ironing.

FRIDAY

I attended the Small Firms Association annual conference and felt like I needed an injection of energy as I was having a busy day. So my neon green Aggi blazer was paired with a pair of Ganni zebra print jeans and cinched in with a River Island belt. The asymmetric bag is by Sara Battaglia and is a guaranteed conversation starter.

Then later that day, I toned it right down to deliver a personal branding talk to the senior ambassadors of the Shona Project. Black jeans, black blazer and a black coat cinched in with a belt. I added my leopard print cap from Bash Paris, my leopard print Melissa Curry earrings and my golden August Night just to pull it all together.

SATURDAY

At Sarah Rickard’s fashion showcase, I spoke about the art of making an impact and how to use your personal style to accelerate your personal brand. So obviously I had to go OTT. My neon green blazer is from a Polish brand called Aggi, which I discovered on Wolf & Badger. I paired it with a leopard-print skirt from Rotate that I nabbed in the Brown Thomas sale (I always manage to find gems in the BT sales… it seems I want the unloved pieces) and my sky-high, candy-pink, knee-high Paris-Texas boots finished the look off. They’re the most uncomfortable shoes I own, but I adore them.

SUNDAY

For the St Brigid’s Day lunch hosted by Kildare LEO in the divine Kilkea castle, I felt I needed to bring something a little special to the occasion so I wore my Sister Jane polka dot dress with a polo underneath and the Irish bag of the year; the molten gold August Night bag.
