The Irish co-founder of London events agency Bash Studios, stylist Jessica Garland-Blake has an eye for detail. Drawn to colourful prints, layered jewellery and animal print Prada sandals, her style incorporates both designer and highstreet pieces for a look that is all her own. Here she shares a week in her wardrobe.
MONDAY
Today is a studio day so I’m keeping it quite comfortable. There’s an event on in a few days and there will be deliveries today. These trousers, which are from Dries Van Noten – I got them on sale from Net-A-Porter earlier this year – have a bit of elastane in them so while I think they’re semi-smart, I can also bend down to pick up parcels and boxes! I paired it with the ‘Optimist’ t-shirt from Birdsong and Gucci slides. Sunnies are from Jimmy Fairly – they’ve been around a while but I’ve only recently discovered them and I think they have such fun frames. My bag is a tote… I genuinely think I have over 30 totes! This one is from the barre studio, Frame, which is a lovely class studio if you ever visit London!
TUESDAY
We (i.e. Bash Studios, the London events agency I co-founded) were invited to the Henley Royal Regatta this year. I had never been but I did think the dress code was going to be very ‘Pretty Woman in the polka dress at the polo game’ so I wore this Zimmermann dress I bought in the Net-A-Porter sales in 2018. I take it out every summer and still love it. Here I’ve paired it with Castaner wedges. They’re so comfy and I wore them all day. My yellow bag was a birthday gift from Mulberry… Mulberry didn’t gift me the bag, I wish I was on Mulberry’s gifting list!
WEDNESDAY
Bit of a running around town today before an event day and some site visits in between. I’m wearing this Tibi bandeau top, a find from Vestiaire Collective from about three years ago. I love a high-waisted trouser and these navy ones are from Ulla Johnson. My Loewe bag is their collaboration with William De Morgan and Gucci slides. I always get asked where my necklaces are from – these ones are from Orelia, Alighieri and Sandra Alexandra, who I think do some of the coolest chunky necklaces.
THURSDAY
On-site for an event today. London is getting HOT and today’s event was in a greenhouse so, you know, basically working in a sauna! I’m wearing very old Ulla Johnson super baggy black trousers that tie in at the waist. I haven’t tried on any of her other pieces such as her dresses or her jumpsuits, but she does a great high-waisted trouser. The leopard print silk shirt (love an animal print) is Dries Van Noten. DVN is one of my favourite designers, I think they do the most interesting prints and fabrics that just always feel fun. I was running around in Supergas today, I find them very comfortable for onsite days.
FRIDAY
A WFH day after an event day. This outfit was another find on Vesitaire… I will say this, while I have a few ‘designer’ pieces I never pay full price, I will add bits to a wishlist and watch them during sale times. I’ll set up notifications on Vestiaire if I’m on the hunt for something, I’ve got some great bargains doing this! My silk top is Missoni, my high-waisted jeans are Weekend Max Mara, my sunnies are Ray Bans and my bag is from a London-based brand called Danse Lente. The jade mushroom necklace I’m wearing is from Orelia and my zodiac necklace is from Brinker and Eliza.
SATURDAY
I’m staying local today so keeping it very casual! My top is a pyjama top from a brand called Deji Studios, my trousers are from the recent Mango x Simon Miller collection and my shoes are Supergas again – I just think they’re a great summer runner!
SUNDAY
I’m going to the local Farmer’s market and then a brewery today. Wearing pyjama shorts from the same brand Deji Studios, they use organic cotton and because they’re designed to be pyjamas they are just very loose and comfortable… I think I’m getting away with wearing pyjamas in public! The shirt is Yaitte and my bag is one of my 30 totes. I know they’re ugly but I really love these furry Prada sandals! A friend actually messaged me when I posted about these and said she hoped they had been discontinued!
