The three steps for the perfect tan are… 1. top-to-toe post-shower dry exfoliation using an exfoliating mitt or body brush. 2. A light sprinkling of moisturiser only on extra dry skin areas, i.e. knees, ankles, elbows, knuckles – not all over! 3. One to two pumps of product onto a mitt and apply in circular motions starting at the top of your limbs working your way down.
Three products I always have in my make-up bag are… hair nets, lots of my Buff N Glow mitts, €14.95, and sticky feet to stop tan being absorbed into the soles of the feet.
My one desert island essential is… a hammock, I love my sleep.
Something that’s always on my nightstand is… my reading glasses – I always read before bed.
The first thing I put on my skin in the morning is… three drops of the Booster Peel & Glow Serum by Keren Bartov – it’s a powerhouse of active skincare and acids mixed with super-hydrators so it’s great for all skin types. It’s transformational and mimics a post-facial glow.
The last beauty-related thing I do, before I go to bed, is… apply my Advanced Skin Repair Serum by Keren Bartov. I’m obsessed with her treatments and her skincare.
My daily vitamins include… after working out I take branched-chain amino acids which help muscle recovery (no aches and pains!) and help rebuild lean muscle, magnesium taurate for regulating my blood sugar and vitamin D to keep my bones and teeth strong and healthy – it’s also great for sleep regulation. Plus, a multivitamin/mineral supplement.
The best beauty advice I ever received was… wear sunscreen. Every day. Whatever the weather.
Everyone should try… getting a full body spray tan! There’s no faster way to put a spring in your step – it’s instant body confidence and sunshine.
I’ve always wanted to… have a black Mohawk haircut. I may have been watching too much Game of Thrones – ha ha!
The beauty appointment I never miss is… my facial with John Tew Beauty. We call John the Face Wizard because he can sculpt you a new face – in a good way! He is one of the best facialists in Hollywood – his space is always full of celebrities.
The first beauty product I ever bought was… a skin-tightening serum. I can’t remember the brand and I didn’t need it at the time as I was so young.
The worst beauty mistake I ever made was… I recently went on a major health kick and lost 30 lbs. And whilst my body looked great, I lost some volume in my face so I got a little filler. A week later I had a facial with radio frequency and it dissolved the fillers! So, I had to go back again to be re-filled. That was an expensive mistake!
My signature scent is… crisp coconut with notes of fig, sandalwood, and apple – when I have time, I blend my own.
The first perfume I loved was… Aubusson cologne – I discovered it in Le Louvre gift shop in Paris and fell in love. It was a heady blend of orange blossom, jasmine, patchouli and oakmoss sandalwood
I never travel without…my Wonderboom speaker – I take it everywhere, the tanning booth, the beach, the pool… it’s portable, lightweight, waterproof and has a great bassy sound.
My weird beauty hack is… if I’m too lazy or don’t have time to tan my whole body I’ll just tan the bits you can see when I’ve dressed – face/neck/hands. I always give myself a good jawline tan contour too!
The last beauty item I bought was… Vitamin Enriched Face Base, €60 by Bobbi Brown – it instantly perks up my face – plumping it and giving it some always-welcome hydration!
To me, being healthy means… a consistent exercise routine and following a balanced diet program. When I follow this simple pattern, I never feel better. It works.
I feel most beautiful when… I’ve had a tonne of sleep and I’m tanned (sunless of course!).
Something I try to do for myself every day is… go to the gym to lift weights and do some cardio. Being fit is as much for my mental and emotional health as my physical health – even when the last thing I want to do is visit the gym, I turn off the negative voice in my head and just go. And I feel great afterwards. You never regret a workout.
I would really like to try… I’m hearing about the new Morpheus treatment for skin tightening. I’d like to try that, please!
I know it’s been a good day if… I got up at 5am and made my bed lol.
I switch off from work by… going on hikes – which in English means I go for a long walk ha ha! It clears my head and regulates my stress levels.
After a long work week, I destress by… getting a manicure and massage. I spend most days on my feet and washing tan off my hands so a great manicure and massage are a real treat.
I recently loved… Daisy Jones & The Six. I worked with the lead actress Riley Keough throughout the series (and beyond) to give her an LA glow – she’s such an incredible actor and the music is amazing! I’m currently reading The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz which is based on ancient Toltec wisdom and teaching how we can free ourselves of limiting beliefs.
I wish I’d bought… about 20 years ago I almost bought a condo in Hollywood. I wish I had because the value tripled very quickly. I’d cry if I knew what it was worth now!!
My favourite place in the world is… Italy. The wine, the food, the scenery, the fashion, the shoes I could go on and on.
The proudest moment of my career has been… when I was on tour with Ariana Grande tanning her for her performance at Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and also hired by Victoria’s Secret to tan the models. Double duty! That was a wild ride but an extremely proud moment.
Three current obsessions… can I say my eyebrows? I recently had them serviced and I’m obsessed. Oh and manicures. My entire life I bit my fingernails but this past year I stopped so I LOVE getting manicures and tapping my nails on any surface in front of me (even though it annoys everyone around me!). Also the stair climber at the gym. It is so hard but so good at the same time. I’m obsessed with conquering an hour on it in the morning.
I can’t live without… I have a silver medallion “JJC” necklace that I got when I started my brand 20 years or so ago. I always wear it – it’s like my talisman.
Sunless by Jimmy Coco is now available in Ireland.
