Lawson Mpame is a Creative Director and menswear stylist who has been working in the fashion industry for seven years. One of the Bollinger Style Council members at the upcoming Punchestown Festival, here he shares a week in his very sleek wardrobe.
MONDAY
I like to kick things off every Monday with a smart look or something smart casual. Polos are a staple in my wardrobe whether it be autumn, winter, spring or summer. Using the print polo from French Connection as a base, I built my look around this. I went with wide-leg trousers from Zara, tassel slip-on loafers from Russell & Bromley, and for an extra pop of colour, I went with a suede jacket. The weather is still temperamental so you always want to have a nice jacket for when it’s cold. The grey and tobacco tones work harmoniously for this look. Keeping it simple with a watch, ring and sunnies was how I tied this look all together.
TUESDAY
This is a look I wore to a day of events. I needed something that could take me from day to night with ease. It had to be edgy, hence why I went for a tank top, a pearl and gold necklace, and some oversized vintage-style glasses. I kept it simple with a Chelsea boot for my footwear and just like that, my day-to-evening look was complete. The suit is from Zara and the boots are from Kurt Geiger.
WEDNESDAY
Today is a bit of a relaxed day – I’m meeting with friends, having some lunch and doing a bit of window shopping. I went with a double denim look from Levi’s, a knitted vest/jumper from H&M and some limited-edition sneakers from Casablanca x New Balance.
THURSDAY
I like to wear street style on Thursday for some reason. I couldn’t tell you why!? It’s a habit I guess. I like wearing oversized jeans at the moment, it means extra room for my legs! These dunks from Nike are a favourite and this bomber from Alexander McQueen is a favourite too. I went with an oversized t-shirt from Zara and tied the look together with a bucket hat from Adidas.
FRIDAY
On Friday I like to wear something to turn heads and, weather permitting, I will go for something like this – all white with some black and tobacco tones. When the weather is good, linen pants are a staple for spring/summer. I own 4 pairs for a nice rotation in case they get dirty (white is easy to get dirty, unfortunately). I went for my favourite two-tone penny loafers from ASOS, a shirt from COS, and a silk scarf from Irish designer Tidings. My fedora and sunnies are both as functional as they are aesthetic, especially if it’s sunny out.
SATURDAY
Saturdays tend to be super chill and I need an equally relaxed look. Shorts, a summer polo, sneakers and a tote are key, weather permitting of course. The shorts I’m wearing here are from H&M, my polo is from Primark, my cap is Zara and the bag is an Adidas tote. My sneakers are the same Casablanca x New Balance ones I wore earlier this week.
SUNDAY
Sunday strolls are my favourite and just because you are in gym gear it doesn’t mean you can’t elevate it to look stylish. I usually start with a nice base of gym gear from Lululemon and Nike. My Maison Margiela sneakers are super comfy to wear and uber stylish. I finished the look with a gilet from H&M, sunnies from Tommy Hilfiger and a cap from H&M. A travel mug is a must when making a coffee pit stop.
