Let Chanel inspire you to wear eyeshadow again

With poker-straight hair, center partings and heavily kohl-rimmed eyes, Chanel brought a modern update to the look from your Avril Lavigne years to the AW21 runway.

Let Chanel inspire you to wear eyeshadow again

Chanel combined skiwear (big fashion news at the moment, from Thom Browne to House of Gucci) and nightclubs for the Chanel AW21 collection this week in a film directed by Inez & Vinoodh, set in Parisian club, Castel.

Virginie Viard was inspired by Karl Lagerfeld’s previous shows, where models would dress themselves and do their own make-up. “The models can get changed, dressed and undressed, do their make-up together, and have fun like a girls night in,” she wrote in the show notes. “I love contrasts.” In beauty terms, that translates into poker-straight hair, a defined center parting, and thick rims of kohl around the eyes.

The dramatic, heavy black wings were created using Chanel eyeliner and the Les 4 Ombres eyeshadow in Modern Glamour, €55, with lashings of mascara on top. Models without blackened eyes wore clean, gleaming skin with groomed brows and a natural lip. Hairs was poker-straight hair or naturally textured, with strict center partings and blunt cut bangs.
