With the voice of an angel and a collection of boots that would make anyone green with envy, Cork-born singer-songwriter Lyra knows how to command attention. Here she shares a week in her wardrobe.
MONDAY
Monday is usually the day where I catch up on emails and do all my running around town, restocking on boob tape and facemasks! It’s a cosy day so I lean towards wearing things that feel like they’re giving me a big hug. Today, that is my nan’s cardi, an old leather skirt from Zara and cowboy boots for all that walking.
TUESDAY
I have a few different radio interviews today, so I tried to mix a bit of comfort with some glam. It’s a long day travelling and chatting so I want to feel good in what I’m wearing. I love a jumpsuit and a pair of boots for such occasions – it’s a fun combo that’s still easy to just throw on. The jumpsuit I’m wearing here is from H&M and my boots are from Simmi.
WEDNESDAY
I’m on the road to a show today so it’s all about fun, fun, fun… and that includes my outfit! I love wearing something different for my sound checks to make me feel in performance mode without having my full stage outfit on. Also, a hat and massive sunnies help to cover tired eyes from the 6am pick up!
By showtime, it’s full glam. I love to customise my looks before I head onstage. This was a full-length Kikiriki red dress that I cut the front off of. Add a leotard (from Penneys) and a pair of Simmi boots and I’m stage-ready. I got the sheer gloves on eBay for some extra drama, obviously.
THURSDAY
I’m going over to the UK for a very cool event today, so naturally, I’m in another trusty jumpsuit – I swear I live in these. This one is a bit more out there with all the cut-outs, so you do have to be on boob watch a bit! As usual, a pair of sunnies is key when early pick-ups are involved.
This evening I’m off to the Alexander McQueen fashion show and after-party. I had to go extra for this and what better way than a full sheer Christopher Kane dress? I love this look so much – it was comfortable enough to dance the night away and glam enough for the red carpet, so that’s a win-win in my eyes. I did end up ripping the bottom and losing one of my Giovanni Raspini rings but that’s the sign of a great night, right?! My boots are from the brand Piferi, my leotard is another Penneys one and my bag is from L’alingi London.
FRIDAY
It’s Friday again, then Saturday Sunday, what? You have to sing that song in your head every Friday, I don’t make the rules! Tonight I’m seeing my girls. We’re not doing anything major as I have a shoot tomorrow but I make up for not drinking with plenty of food! And let’s be honest is it even a night out without a toilet selfie? I don’t think so, so here’s mine. Both my top and my shoes are from ASOS and my trousers are from Zara.
SATURDAY
I have a shoot later this evening so comfort is key – I style all my own shoots so I’ll be busy rushing around town, collecting all my outfits. My morning workout is carrying bags of clothes up and down the stairs all day. The top I’m wearing here is actually a Rotate Birger Christensen dress tucked into my joggers (which are French Connection). My trainers are by Axel Arigato.
This shoot was full glam so I was in heaven – wearing so maybe amazing outfits is like playing dress up for a living! I love shoot days and getting to create looks and see them all come together. Here I’m wearing a Dolce & Gabbana jumpsuit, styled with a Mugler corset on top.
SUNDAY
Today is a studio day. I have to wear something I can breathe in so as to hit all those high notes, but I don’t like going too casual as I still want to feel good when recording. I don’t know why, but putting a nice outfit on and a pair of heels really helps me to get the best vocal recording I can. I guess it puts me in performance mode. I tend to go make-up free on these says though, as after a long day recording my eye makeup always ends up down my face anyway. Balenciaga sunglasses it is then.
