Comfortable and stylish in equal measure, mesh ballet flats are one step before sandals – the perfect springtime shoe.

Ballet flats established themselves as a recurrent favourite last year thanks to the rising popularity of Balletcore and the coquette aesthetic

Dressier than trainers but far comfier than heels, they’re a recurrent favourite on Instagram and we’ve seen everything from silk to leather and edgier studded versions too. 

The latest iteration comes in mesh, inspired by Alaïa’s sellout take on the trend which the fashion set can’t seem to get enough of. Khaite introduced its crystal-embellished mesh ballet flats on the spring 2023 runways and even the Olsen twin’s brand, The Row, has their own interpretation now too. 

It may not be the most Irish weather appropriate shoe, but neither are sandals…
