MUA Lauren Egerton’s five top tips to do your make-up like a pro
And guess what? They’re all easy!
We gave MUA, hairstylist, TikToker and Instagram-pro Lauren Egerton the No7 Pro Artist Beauty Vault to play with, and it’s become her favourite. She shares some easy, speedy tips for winter make-up looks we can all get on board with.
1. Different seasons call for different make-up, adjust your daily look accordingly
“I always suggest using cooler tones in the winter so switching up your bronzer is a must. Bronzer in a cooler tone can be much more flattering at this time of the year because we are no longer looking for that sun-kissed skin. A bronzer in a cooler rosy tone will give you both definition and a natural healthy glow. As we tend to be a little paler in the winter this will just compliment your complexion and give a great base to your make-up routine.”
2. Try something new
“No matter how long you’ve been wearing make-up (or maybe precisely for that reason), it’s always a good idea to switch up your make-up look. I’ve always been a pink blush girl, but I tried the No7 Pro Artist Luxe Liquid Blush in shade Coral Blush and guess what, I’m in love! It’s now my favourite thing!”
3. Check colour payoff
“You want shades that are true to as they appear in the palette/bottle/bullet. Swatch the samples in-store before purchasing to ensure good pigment and the right texture – whether that’s sheer, shimmery, glittery or matte. Pro products should deliver the shades and textures you expect and No7 Pro Artist collection does that.”
4. Get the most from your products
Taking a bit of time to familiarise yourself with your new products always pays off. For example, eyeshadow quads. So often we race to use what we’re familiar with, but don’t explore the newness. The No7 Pro Artist Beauty Vault contains two eyeshadow palettes – the No7 Pro Artist On-The-Go Look Palette in Spotlight and in Midnight Glow, both of which contain four different shades, two matte and two shimmer.
“Deeper shades in any eyeshadow palette are mainly to add definition – so my pro tip is to blend them into the crease with a fluffy blush or along the lash line with a slim brush to define the eyes. The magic happens with the lighter shades. When I apply my own makeup, I use my ring finger to pick up a shimmery shade and press it straight onto the centre of my eye, right above my iris. This brings light right into the eyes and lifts the lid immediately. It’s a great trick I’ve been using on myself and my clients for years.”
5. How to get that pro-look, winged eye with a pencil
“If you are experimenting with eyeliner, or trying to create a perfect wing, start with an eye pencil like the No7 Pro Artist Eyeliner in Starry Skies, which glides on, gives time for play and then sets so it won’t budge. It allows you to sketch your shape and it’s super easy to clean up afterwards. A real pro tip is to ensure pencils are always sharpened, and when applying keep your eye open, looking straight ahead while doing it. You will be able to see what direction the wing should be going and slowly sketch it out in short, light strokes. Have a cotton bud on hand to sharpen up that line or clean up any mess. And remember, practice makes perfect!”
