A huge fan of glitter and colour, shoe and handbag designer Nicki Hoyne doesn’t believe in saving things for special occasions. A keen advocate for wearing your good wear whenever you so please, her style is built around well-made staples she can wear in myriad ways. Here she shares a week in her wardrobe.
MONDAY
I love a Monday, it feels like a fresh start every week. My work is fun and creative so I like to dress to reflect that. I always dress up even if I’m at home. I feel more myself in a pop of glitter, colour or animal print. It makes me more productive, I would get nothing done in leggings and loungewear. These dungarees are from Whistles, the shirt is Sandro from The Outnet and my shoes are Nicki Hoyne Tassel Flats in Leopard Print.
TUESDAY
Working and living alone I crave to be around people in the evenings. Kilkenny is such a buzzing city. When I’m in town, I will have midweek dinner and drinks with family or friends. For such outings, I’ll usually wear a blazer, jeans and flats. This Sandro blazer is a gorgeous gold textured brocade over a Sinead Keary The Label cami, skinny jeans and my Red Glitter Tassel Flats. I think there is nothing chicer than a pop of red and glitter is not just for Christmas, I wear it all year round!
WEDNESDAY
Today I’m in Dublin for Nicki Hoyne AW23 press preview. I love a jumpsuit, I will always opt for one for events. I think they are stylish and comfortable without looking too done up. A gorgeous textured or coloured one is always wow. This one is Pink Velvet from Kitri Studios. I paired it with my new Out Out Sandals in green and pink and my Green Croc Belt Bag as a clutch.
THURSDAY
I’m back in London and working from home in this chic but comfy Missoni Chunky Knit from Kildare Village. I feel dressed up but still comfortable for a day of emails and admin. I like to mark special moments with special pieces. This knit was my treat to celebrate the Nicki Hoyne pop-up at Kildare Village. Pink and red are my brand colours so it reminds me of the shop and how fun it was to be a part of the buzz of the village. These trousers are Hobbs and Nicki Hoyne Tassel Flats in Patent Red.
FRIDAY
Hurray for the weekend! I am a member of Allbright in Mayfair, I work from there one or two days a week. It’s a female members club with lots of interesting ladies and events. I’m always dressed to represent my brand and usually go for dinner and drinks in Soho in the evenings. I’ll wear a blazer like this from Zadig & Voltaire. It’s black with black crystal stars encrusted on the shoulders, sleeve and back. It’s my new favourite piece, love it! These leather look trousers are Frame from The Outnet and my Nicki Hoyne Red Oversized Bow Heels add a pop of colour. More pops of red!
SATURDAY
This black fringe dress was a steal from a Whistles sample sale. I think it was £20 at the time. I have found some amazing one-off designer pieces at sample sales. You have to be on the list, go early and be prepared to dig. My bag is a Miu Miu Matelassé Clutch. My Shoes are my Nicki Hoyne Gold Glitter Oversized Bow Pumps. These sold out in 4 days! Earrings are Loulerie –Louise has the best edit of unique and different, wow jewellery.
SUNDAY
I love to explore at the weekend. I will wander a neighbourhood like Notting Hill, Marylebone or Shoreditch having lunch, browsing little independent boutiques and having dinner and drinks before heading home. It’s my perfect day. I saw this red Mango coat on Lorna Ruane (@lcscloset), popped it in my basket and waited for the Black Friday sale. I got it at 40% off! The hat is cashmere from Uniqlo, my bag is a classic Chanel lambskin quilted flap bag. I don’t believe in keeping things for special occasions. Fashion should be enjoyed and celebrated not hidden away in boxes for “good wear”. My boots are my new Nicki Hoyne Chelsea Boots in Black with contrasting Pink Elastic.
