Orla Hopkins co-founded Irish athleisure brand New Dimensions Active with her brother, Jeff back in 2018 – launching their first collection with just two styles of leggings and an online store. A former gymnast, a personal trainer and a busy mum of two, her style is all about being comfortable on the go (though she does love dressing up too!). Here she shares a week in her wardrobe.
MONDAY
I had a busy day of meetings and running around town. Leggings are pretty much my go-to every day. I needed to be a little more put together today so I decided to team my New Dimensions Active Lux leggings with this fab statement blazer from Jack Murphy. They’re a fabulous Irish brand, local to where I live and this blazer is made from the most incredible tweed. I finished the look off with a plain top – you can never go wrong with a basic white tee.
TUESDAY
Tuesday is one of my long days and I spend it on foot and public transport, so it’s all about comfort… from the school run to the train station to our store, then finally, at the end of the day, it’s workout time! The Elite Max is my new favourite workout set – seen here in the teal colourway. A long sleeve tank on top and a pair of comfy trainers and I’m ready to go.
WEDNESDAY
I had work meetings in the morning but my son’s school rugby match in the afternoon. I had checked the forecast and it was miserable so it was back to my trusted leggings, basic white tee and trainers look. I always keep my Hunter wellies in my boot – so much of my time is spent sideline in the rain! This Jack Murphy coat is a staple in my wardrobe for autumn/winter. I love to invest in my winter coats and boots and as a Skerries girl, I love to support other local brands.
THURSDAY
As you can tell, my style really is all about comfort. Today I was mixing some work with lunches and a dance rehearsal in the evening. I was also travelling around on foot, so needed to wear flats or trainers. I picked this two-piece up in Zara and added my Nike silver and black huaraches and a vintage Prada bag. I say vintage as it was one of the first designer handbags I bought myself 15 years ago. I also love to buy pre-loved designer so you will often find me in Designer Exchange on Exchequer Street! The bottoms are like a wide-leg tracksuit so perfect to take me from my day to rehearsals without having to carry an extra duffle with me.
FRIDAY
Tonight I celebrated a good friend’s 40th. I went with a bold cutout jumpsuit and platforms – both from Zara – and earrings from the fab Crystals & Co. I’m 42 , mum to two boys and definitely don’t get out as much as I’d like to, so when I do, I LOVE to dress up! I tend to stick to black but always love a cutout detail.
SATURDAY
I headed to a Pilates class this morning, followed by brunch afterwards. I spotted this top in Zara and knew it would be perfect to team with my flares. These flares are from one of our latest New Dimensions collection and are made with the most incredible fabric. They’re perfect to wear to a yoga, Pilates or dance class but feel dressy enough for brunch. My trainers are Adidas, which I spotted in Brown Thomas and felt they would be great for a more dressed-up look.
SUNDAY
Sideline Sunday as I call it. I spend my Sundays on the sideline of both soccer and rugby pitches… I’m not complaining, I actually love it, but dressing for it can be tricky so I always layer! As I said before, I keep my wellies and a long coat in the boot of my car just in case, then it’s normally leggings, a tee or tank, a sweater or today I wore this long cardigan from H&M.
