With a mix of nature-inspired shades and plenty of colours to make an impact, the palette has something to transform every room in the house.
Irish paint brand Colourtrend has added 28 new shades to its Contemporary Collection, all inspired by the Irish landscape and culture, with each colour having a story behind it.
More than ever, people are drawing comfort and sanctuary from their homes, and spending most of their time there. The colours, which range from warm and earthy to cool and calming, aim to enhance this, and help people create a range of different moods in their home.
“2020 has meant people are not only living in their homes but working, learning and entertaining,” says General Paints Group Head of Marketing , Edel Nicholson. “We are spending a lot more time at home – expecting a lot more from our homes. Therefore the colours we put into our homes and spaces are now more important than ever.”
“People have fallen back in love with the country and colours of Ireland that they may have started to take for granted,” she added. Particular trends this season include sea green, muted heather and skin tone terracotta.
Here are just some of the new colours joining Colourtrend’s palette.
A tone reminiscent natural stone, this calming neutral works with a large range of other shades, as shown in this bedroom. It is inspired by the geology of the Irish landscape, with its many valleys and ridges of native stone.
A blend of grey and green, the two colours most likely to be seen when looking at the Irish landscape, this colour will make an impact. However, it has a softness that means it’s not overpowering, and will work in a main space in the home, such as a living room or kitchen.
Inspired by one of Ireland’s most elusive creatures, this brown has a blush undertone which adds warmth and depth, and helps it to pair with cooler shades. While brown is a big interior trend at the moment, browns with yellow undertones don’t work well in Irish light, so this pink-toned shade is a great option.
Taking its inspiration from the limestone landscape of the Irish midlands, this gentle shade is particularly restful, and is a warmer option than they greys that have recently been popular.
This earthy blush colour takes its cue from the deep tones of horse chestnuts, adding a grounded, grown-up feel to this often saccharine shade. It’s perfect for a moody yet warm bedroom.
A warm, neutral shade that will bring a touch of calm wherever it is needed, this colour inspired by the shades of birds’ feathers.
A beautiful muted mauve, this colour takes its lead from the often saturated hues of our cities’ sunsets. It will add cosiness and colour to any space, whether it’s a nook for a home office or a luxurious bedroom.
