The royals were married in a secret ceremony at Windsor on Friday
Many were surprised when Princess Beatrice’s wedding reportedly took place on Friday.
The couple were originally scheduled to wed at the end of May but had to postpone the ceremony due to the pandemic.
Now, Buckingham Palace has officially confirmed that Princess Beatrice’s big day did indeed take place and has released photos of the royal wedding.
An intimate ceremony
Princess Beatrice wed Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in the Royal Chapel of All Saints in Windsor Great Park.
It was an intimate ceremony adhering to social distancing guidelines with just 20 guests in attendance, including the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, and reportedly, Beatrice’s sister, Princess Eugenie, is also said to have been present.
The bride’s parents, the Duke and Duchess of York, are not pictured in any photos but the palace did confirm to BBC that her father, Prince Andrew, walked her down the aisle.
Prince Andrew has continued to keep a low profile since his relationship with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein caused major controversy.
A vintage dress and iconic tiara
Princess Beatrice looked stunning in her vintage Peau de Soie taffeta dress by Norman Hartnell and a diamond fringe tiara, both loaned to her from the Queen.
The classic ivory dress, trimmed with duchess satin and encrusted with diamante, was fitted for Beatrice before her big day.
The Queen Mary tiara she donned atop her veil was worn by her grandmother, the Queen, on her own wedding day in 1947.
As per tradition, the bridal bouquet included sprigs of myrtle as well as jasmine, sweet peas, roses, wax flowers and pink astilbes.
After the ceremony, it was laid on the tomb of the unknown warrior in Westminster Abbey, a long held tradition by royal brides.
