Stylist Ali Byrne on her favourite fashion finds

Stylist Ali Byrne on her favourite fashion finds

From her does-it-all coat, to her wear-everywhere handbag, here are Ali Byrne’s favourite fashion finds.

Ali Byrne is a fashion stylist, social media manager, and content creator sharing her flare for piecing together a good look online since 2018. The Cork native draws inspiration from Scandinavian street style, and her pared back aesthetic has a certain edge to it that makes her an instant Instagram follow.

Here, we get an exclusive glimpse into her enviable wardrobe.

How would you describe your personal style?

I would describe my personal style as minimal with a bit of an edge to it. I love my go-to capsule pieces, and then adding different fun accessories to put my own personal twist on it. I would say my style is heavily influenced by Scandinavian fashion — they are the coolest!

The go-to shoe/trainers

My go-to trainers at the moment are definitely the Nike P-6000 trainers. They are such easy shoes to style. I wear them on a daily basis and even to a gym class sometimes as they look great with workout gear too.

The does-it-all coat

There’s nothing I love more than an oversized coat. I adore the masculine fit of this grey one from Zara. This style of coat works so well for everyday wear but also over dressier styles for more festive occasions.

The perfect jeans

For me, comfort is key when it comes to denim jeans. I have recently rediscovered my love for a good pair of jeans, and think there is such a good selection out there at the moment depending on your personal style. For me, I think the slouchier the better, as I think they work so well with knits but also look super cute with a more going-out style of top. I’ve recently picked up this grey pair from H&M which are very cool.

The must-have knitwear

I feel like COS is doing knitwear so well this season. They have a mix of cashmere knitwear which is a bit more luxurious, but they also do other variations of knitwear really well, and the quality is brilliant.

The everyday jewellery

In the last year or so I’ve made the transition to silver jewellery, which I absolutely love. My jewellery consists of a mix of vintage rings that I’ve picked up on various holidays abroad. My other everyday pieces consist of a pair of hoops and a cowboy boot necklace which is such a quirky little piece – both are from Irish brand Zo&Co.

The wear-everywhere handbag

My COS leather crossbody bag is one of my best purchases of 2023. It’s the perfect bag that fits my whole life into it and it’s ideal for the transition from day to night.

The Sunday cosy casual look

I’m a sucker for a matching tracksuit and this Bound Apparel one is at the top of my wishlist. It’s the perfect grey colour and I love the oversized fit to it.

The ultimate pyjamas

I own a few pieces from Skims and love the quality, so I’ve always wanted a pair of their PJs — I’ve heard great things about them.

The party look essential

I’m never usually someone who wears heels but I think this year they are definitely a party essential. I love the more vintage-inspired style of heel that Miu Miu has done very well this season. I have this Urban Outfitters pair in my basket.

The most treasured piece

I always treasure a second-hand/vintage piece more than anything because the reward of finding something so unique is the best feeling ever. I own a pair of Prada loafers which I bought from The Luxury Exchange and they were one of my favourite purchases ever.

The wishlist item

My current wishlist consists of the Wales Bonner x Adidas Samba trainers. They come in so many different prints and colours, but my favourite is definitely the silver colourway.

The vintage shop to know

I’m a big fan of LOOT, it’s a vintage shop on Drury Street in Dublin with loads of cool designer gems. I also have a big love for charity shopping and used to do a lot of it when I lived at home in Cork. There is such a great selection of stores in Dublin too but I have definitely learnt that patience is key when it comes to finding a good piece.

Who to follow for style on social media

Instagram is such an inspiring industry to be working in at the moment because there are so many different style muses. My top three style accounts to follow are @josefinehj , @sophfloyd and @olivianeill

The beauty essentials / self-care ritual

I recently got some RHODE skincare products and I’ve been absolutely loving them. I feel they are the perfect skincare products for under makeup. The glazing fluid is to die for.
