From his does-it-all coat, to his party look essential, here are Eoin Gavin’s favourite fashion finds.
Eoin Gavin is a Dublin-based master of fashion specialising in editorial styling, music video styling, brand styling, and personal styling. With three years of experience under his belt, Eoin endeavours to create some magic and, in his own words, make the world a little less tragic each day.
Here, we get an exclusive glimpse into his enviable wardrobe…
How would you describe your personal style?
I’d describe my style as classically colourful! I never usually wear things that are avant garde, I’m much more of a pants and a nice top, but make it monochromatic kinda person.
The go-to shoe/trainers
I simply do not care what anyone says, a good pair of white Airforce 1 Nikes will get you everywhere in life, taking me from one silly job to another.
The does-it-all coat
I got this AMAZING green patent trench from ASOS a few years ago and no matter where I go it adapts to the conditions. You need to be warm? Done. Oh it’s raining? Guess what, it’s waterproof. Want a compliment from strangers on a random Tuesday? I whip that bad boy out.
The perfect jeans
I must confess I am not a jeans person at all, I’m much more of a pant person. The perfect pants for me are colourful, high-waisted (the higher the waist, the closer to god), and have a bit of a flare to give some drama!
The must-have knitwear
For me, it has to be the Division knit jumpers. I picked one up in Copenhagen at the beginning of the year and it’s so snuggly and cute, I simply adore.
The everyday jewellery
I’m not a big jewellery wearer but when I want to impress I rock my H&M x Iris Apfel beetle earrings, my H&M x Mugler Ring, and my big Pandora necklace that I picked up in Copenhagen too!
The wear-everywhere handbag
When I’m in stylist mode my handbag is often a giant Penneys or Ikea bag… not very glam!
When I’m not in stylist mode I love a good tote bag! I was recently gifted a lovely Colin Horgan tote by the legend himself and I wear it EVERYWHERE! Carries all my stuff and doesn’t slide down my arm — what else could I want?
The Sunday cosy casual look
I’m always working on a Sunday so I don’t get to be cosy too often, but my ideal cosy casual Sunday look would be pyjamas, accented with a duvet, in bed.
The ultimate pyjamas
The giant fuzzy hoodies from Dunnes?? STUNNING.
The party look essential
I do think statement jewellery does a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to party looks. Give me my big rings and chunky necklace and then keep the outfit more clean, so it doesn’t look forced.
The most treasured piece
My most treasured piece right now is a necklace that was gifted to me by the lovely divas in OM Diva. It simply says ‘stylist’ and I thought it was so special that they thought of me when they saw it!
The wishlist item
Honestly I would have to say a Rioncarnation corset! I’ve always been obsessed with corsetry and the shapes they create in the body, and I always want to support local independent designers.
The vintage shop to know
For womenswear I highly recommend Jenny Vander Vintage on Drury Street. Such an amazing array of genuine vintage pieces dating back to the early 1900s (we adore Gail, Sally, and Marion!).
For mens I would say Lucy’s Lounge in Temple Bar. If you’re looking for some vintage pieces with some FLARE and FUN they most definitely have it! Go give Galaxy a hug for me (iykyk).
Who to follow for style on social media
My bestie and mortal enemy Zeda the Architect! Her outfits have a certain *manic* energy that just works.
The beauty essentials / self-care ritual
Give me a good CeraVe moisturiser and send me on my way!
