Team IMAGE on the absolute essentials that get them through the summer

From tried and true SPFs to beach towels and tote bags, here’s what team IMAGE cannot live without during the summer season.

Emily Farrell, Social Media Manager

One of my go-to summer essentials is the Beauty of Joseon Factor 50+ SPF, it’s great for under makeup and doesn’t feel oily. I also love a setting spray to keep my makeup on during the warmer days – the Sculpted by Aimee Hydrate and Hold is my favourite!

Summer for me is all about slowing down. It’s long evenings and bare feet, tanned limbs, freckled faces, salty lashes and 99s by the seaside. It doesn’t take much for me to be happy so long as the sun is shining! I’m religious about wearing SPF though and always have the Heliocare 360° Sunscreen Gel SPF on the go. It doesn’t leave a white sheen like other suncreams and is great under makeup – it’s one of the first things I reach for in the morning.

My future mother-in-law kindly brought me an Australian microfibre towel similar to this one back from a recent trip, and they’re such a game-changer. I’ve tried microfibre towels before but didn’t find them to be particularly absorbent, but these ones dry you perfectly, are really soft to the touch, and they’re dry in such a short time. It was a godsend on a recent beach trip – light to carry and leaving lots more space in my bag for snacks, and not holding onto sand the way normal towels do – but I’m envisaging this towel accompanying me on all sorts of trips this summer, from a handy picnic blanket to a hand-luggage friendly addition to my bag for a weekend away.

I love this SPF 50 sun oil for my face because it lasts all day, so I can put it on, apply make-up over the top, and then not have to worry about reapplying every few hours. Perfect for us pale gals. I also bought this jacket a few weeks ago and have been living in it. I’m always a fan of a men’s fit for an oversized look, while I can never get enough of linen, so it’s really win-win for me.

Emily O’Neill, Branded Partnerships – Marketing Account Executive

For the last five years, my number one summer essential has been Birkenstock sandals. This summer I upgraded my collection and purchased the most gorgeous gold pair. I have worn them every single day since they arrived with jeans, dresses and everything in between. Your feet will thank you for wearing them as the comfort is next level!

I know it may not be the most glamorous thing in the world, but when I think of summer essentials, deodorant is simply just too important not to mention. In a bid to keep things natural, this lavender and vanilla one from Salt of the Earth is made with botanical extracts and oils, and makes me feel nice and fresh while I’m baking away in the heat.

A claw clip is another big one for me — I’ve got to get this damn hair off my back instantly or I become very irritable and all-round unpleasant to be with. Lastly, a sturdy tote bag is an absolute necessity for me, and if you think I’ll be using it to lug around some thirst-quenching cans, crisps and an assortment of snacks, you would be correct.
