Team IMAGE share their beauty staples and quick fixes for party season beauty in a flash.
For me it has to be Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions Mascara. For the last seven years or so I haven’t been able to wear mascara as, inevitably, after just 30 minutes or so, it would end up halfway down my face! I always ended up looking like a sad panda, so I just stopped bothering and tried to remember to book in a lash tint every few months. Then a friend recommended the Hourglass mascara as one that does not budge but is still easy enough to remove. And I can verify it is exactly that. It adds decent length and stays put! When it comes off, it comes off in little flakes that are super easy to just brush away – so no smudging or sad pandas. Win. – Lizzie Gore-Grimes, Editor-in-Chief
I will entirely forget that my make-up requires upkeep until I’m confronted with my face once again at some point in a mirror, so thank you Charlotte Tilbury for the Setting Spray which means my make-up looks relatively like it did the last time I saw myself. Now if she could just invent something that stops me overdoing my lipliner in the mirror as the night wears on, I’d be sorted. – Holly O’Neill, Editor, IMAGE.ie; Beauty Editor, IMAGE
I’ve been using the same shade of red lipstick – MAC’s Ruby Woo – since I was a teenager and it continues to be a favourite… if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it and all that. A combination of not knowing what to do and being too lazy to learn means that I rarely switch my beauty looks up all that much so this is my ‘made an effort’ secret weapon (even if it only takes two minutes to slick on before heading out the door!). – Sarah Finnan, Deputy Digital Editor, IMAGE.ie
For me it has to be Orange Bitters by Jo Malone London, it just epitomises Christmas for me. I love how it is sultry and decadent – perfect for the party season. – Sophie Power, Marketing & Memberships Director
A Christmas of indulgence—which is a non-negotiable for me—does not exactly lend itself to radiant, glowy skin. A sheet mask can undo an abundance of sins, so I plan on waking up mid afternoon, popping this one on for about half an hour, and lounging on the couch, eating excessively. Then, when I inevitably return to the pub for more overdue catch ups, my dehydrated skin will be a thing of the past, and childhood friends will point at me from across the bar, saying things like, ‘your skin looks so plump, soft, and youthful!’ – Sarah Gill, Staff Writer
I’ve never quite mastered the art of eyeshadow, so I love a bold lip for a party look – it’s much harder to get wrong! The Glossier Generation G lipstick in Zip is perfect for when I’m looking for a laid-back red lip. It’s sheer but buildable, and nicely matte, meaning it has a soft, slightly blurred effect. Plus, you can skip the lip liner too, so it’s really win-win. – Megan Burns, Editor, IMAGE Interiors; Deputy Editor, IMAGE
Nothing screams party season to me more than a red lip. Classy, timeless, glam, and most importantly, quick and easy. Over the next few weeks you will not see me without a red lip – Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Revolution lipstick in Red Carpet Red is one is my all time favourites! – Hannah Stapleton, Marketing Intern
I am all about that glow for party season! A common misconception is that party season looks mean heavy make-up. However this is not always the case. A gorgeous hydrated base and a touch of sparkle on the eye can be just as effective. To achieve that glowy base I have been mixing POCO Beauty’s Universal Glow Treatment with a pump of my foundation. Trust me when I say this – you will get so many compliments on your skin with this product. – Emily O’Neill, Branded Partnerships Marketing Account Executive
As a teen I read a lot about desk-to-dancefloor make-up – but it turns out that has not been quite as big an aspect of my life as I was led to believe! The only exception is this time of year and the product that I always turn to to help my tired skin transition from sitting at the laptop all day is Pestle & Mortar’s Balance Mist. A quick facial spritz leaves my skin glowing, dewy and good as new. It’s rich in bioavailable Irish magnesium and blended with skin-reviving herbal extracts, meaning I know I’m treating my skin like the queen she is! – Dominique McMullan, Editorial Director
My one beauty essential for the party season is the Kevin Murphy Shimmer Me Blonde finishing treatment spray. I apply a few spritzes onto towel-dried hair before blow drying and it adds a gorgeous shine. It’s a lightweight mist that nourishes and adds a lovely shimmer to light-coloured hair without weighing it down – I’d highly recommend! – Saoirse McCloskey, Marketing Account Executive
