The IMAGE Shopping Basket: What’s new to the highstreet shops this week

We have a nose around what's new to all your favourite highstreet shops and let you know what we're adding to our shopping baskets

The problem with doing these kinds of articles is that I end up buying things that I feature. I just bought the matching herringbone jacket to the Mango mid-length skirt and I still have the tab open on the & Other Stories pink cardi. I mean, I could go as Cher in Clueless for Halloween I guess (go where, I don’t know, the shop maybe) and that makes it an acceptable buy, right?

Zara has a bunch of *whisper it* Christmassy outfits joining the shop floor – think sequins and golds, also a fabulous pair of satin cargo trousers that really need to be seen in real life to be appreciated. H&M and & Other Stores keep it casual with autumn wears including a gorgeous padded jacket with a Peter Pan collar, proving one of the summer’s biggest trends is going nowhere.

Mango looks like it’s taking target at overhauling our work wardrobes with comfier, but equally chic alternatives – so many great shirts in there right now. ASOS always has so much newness coming in it’s impossible to decipher a trend but M&S are evolving the loungewear look of the pandemic into loose, military-style autumn. I’ve just reminded myself of the “shacket” and now I’ve reopened that tab as well…
