The street style trends from CPHFW to try now

Fashion journalist Zeda was back at Copenhagen Fashion Week tracking the season’s most striking trends as they unfolded on the streets. This year, the fashion crowd showed us all how it's done with sharp suiting, opulent textures and high fashion with a touch of charm. Here are the emerging style trends from CPHFW to try now.

I would choose capturing outfits at Copenhagen Fashion Week over going to watch a fashion show because the showgoers offer a masterclass in wearing clothes and effortless chic. This season, from clean cuts to playful kitsch, the fashion crowd blended sharp sophistication with eccentricity, once again proving that dressing up is both an art and an attitude. Here’s what’s defined the style conversation at CPHFW AW25.

Sharp Suiting

The clear winner in the streets this season, power dressing took on a fresh, modern edge as tailored suits reclaimed their place at the forefront of street style. From oversized blazers with exaggerated shoulders to impeccably cut trousers, suiting struck the perfect balance between structure and ease. While classic neutral tones like grey, black and camel dominated, daring prints and unexpected textures like pinstripes, checks and even leather finishes added a playful twist. Styling was key to the success: trainers brought a laid-back contrast to crisp tailoring, while statement coats layered over sleek suits created an elevated yet wearable look. Some took it a step further, cinching oversized blazers and coats with bold belts or pairing them with boots for a power move that was equal parts commanding and cool. Copenhagen’s fashion set proved that suiting is anything but rigid and the message was clear: the suit is back and it means business.

Fur For Days

The debate over the ‘right’ kind of fur to buy is still ongoing, whether faux, vintage, or reworked. I don’t have the answers but one thing is certain: fur dominated the streets this season, cementing itself as the ultimate statement in both luxury and warmth. Seeing the oversized coats around the city gave its wearers a sense of old-fashioned glamour, with a textural twist. All styled impeccably with conflicting colours and varying levels of undress, it proved that sophistication doesn’t have to be stiff and made the case for blending high fashion with everyday wearability. Whether seen in classic neutral tones, rich chocolate browns or unexpected pops of colour, fur brought a noticeable richness to CPHFW, reminding us that fashion is as much about how it feels as how it looks.

Headwear Obsession

Hats, headscarves and statement headpieces were the ultimate finishing touch this season, proving that a well-chosen accessory can transform an entire look. Whether sleek and structured or playful and dramatic, headwear was a defining feature on the streets of Copenhagen. Faux fur hats made a strong return, scarves continued their reign and pillbox hats made their introduction which gave a nod to vintage elegance, effortlessly elevating even the most casual of ensembles. Whether serving a practical purpose or acting as a bold statement piece, headwear was more than just an accessory, it was an extension of personal style. This season, the right headwear wasn’t just an add-on, it was the main event.

The Reign Of Grey

Grey took centre stage this season, spotlighted as the ultimate neutral, effortless and unashamedly chic. From soft to deep charcoal, this muted palette swept through the streets in matching sets, outerwear and oversized knits proving that subtlety can be just as commanding and bold as colour is. Suits in slate grey exuded quiet luxury, their sharp silhouettes softened by draped wool coats while the chunkiest knits paired with slouchy trousers balanced cosiness with sophistication. Plus accessories such as hats added depth to the monochrome moment. Whether styled in full tonal looks or just as an accent to much bolder pieces, grey’s versatility and timeless appeal were undeniable. This season, it wasn’t just a colour, it was a statement in understated elegance, proving that minimalism never ever has to be boring.

Kitsch Comeback

Playfulness is so back this season, with kitsch fashion making a bold, unapologetic run for gold. Copenhagen’s style set embraced eccentricity with open arms, turning the streets into a runway of quirky patterns, nostalgic motifs and offbeat accessories. The message was clear: fashion should be fun, expressive and never ever too serious. Cartoonish prints, retro graphics and exaggerated embellishments injected a sense of humour into everyday dressing. Think chunky cat sweaters and egg brooches, oversized faux fur coats in candy-coloured hues and mismatched prints clashing in all the right ways. It wasn’t just about bold visuals; there was also a playful approach to styling – socks with heels, plastic jewellery layered over structured suits and intentionally clashing textures created a chaotic yet curated aesthetic. This season, maximalism was a win, proving that more is more and self-expression is the ultimate statement.

My final takeaway from CPHFW was that the street style has once again proven that fashion is more than just clothing, it’s a form of self-expression and a reflection of the cultural moment. Whether embracing bold textures, nostalgic kitsch or the power of a perfectly tailored suit, the Copenhagen crowd continues to push boundaries and redefine what it means to dress with purpose. As we take inspiration from the streets, one thing is clear: individuality reigns supreme, and the most exciting trend of all is wearing what makes you feel confident and uniquely you.
