This Irish cashmere brand is the perfect investment to elevate your wardrobe

Madigan is run by a creative couple, who both share a passion for Irish design and their rich family heritage.
Many creative people are inspired by influential people in their lives, but Elaine and Richard Madigan had a particularly strong family tradition to follow on from. Richard comes from a 4th generation family of watchmakers and jewellers, while Elaine’s mother, a seamstress, taught her to design beautiful garments.
Having met at just 15, the duo have combined their talents in various ways over the years, including a jewellery brand and a boutique store. Elaine noticed a gap in the market for a luxury Irish-made cashmere collection, and Madigan was born, with their first store opening in Dublin at the Westbury Mall in 2016.
Since then, it has been known as a staple of some of Ireland’s most stylish men and women, creating understated, elegant pieces that become wardrobe heroes. Madigan has also expanded their offering beyond cashmere, to include pieces in silk and velvet, all of the same exceptional quality.
Their cashmere is made in Ireland using a handflat knitting technique which was popular in Ireland from around the 1950s to the 1980s. Each piece is checked by Elaine before leaving the studio, ensuring that everything is perfect.
Madigan’s latest collection, entitled “Renaissance”, is full of rich colours and generously cut silhouettes, giving them a feeling of luxury. Jewel tones sit alongside neutral stalwarts, while details like ribbed cuffs and asymmetric hems add points of interest.
Whether investing in a piece for yourself, or treating someone special to a piece they will treasure for years to come, there is something to suit everyone.
