The Woven Luxury collection from Magee 1866 combines Irish craft with simple silhouettes and a minimalist palette for pieces you’ll return to for years to come.
It’s often said that quality outerwear is the most important aspect of any winter wardrobe, and it’s easy to see why. A beautiful coat or jacket is the first thing people will see at this time of year as the temperatures drop.
As well as investing in something that’s of exceptional quality that you know you’ll wear for many years, it’s also a good idea to choose a timeless, simple design that will go with everything. This gives you one less thing to think about when putting outfits together, as you know your classic jacket will always finish off any look.
Magee 1866’s new Woven Luxury collection encapsulates all of these principles. With a black-and white palette across the range, allowing the natural fibre of each garment to be appreciated, each one is made from a baby alpaca and lambswool blend, designed and woven in the Magee weaving mill in Donegal. A fifth-generation Irish family business with over 150 years experience in designing, weaving and tailoring luxurious fabrics and clothing, you can be sure each piece is of the highest quality.
“This collection is inspired by a cold, frosty winter sky,” Charlotte Temple, creative director at Magee 1866 says. “I love the timeless element of each piece.”
There are three pieces in this collection. The Klara wrap jacket combines soft tailoring with a draped, elegant shape, finished off with a belt which allows you to style it in a number of ways – left open, with a loose tie or a cinched-in waist. Its houndstooth design adds a subtle pattern yet is a classic that will never date.
For a classic look, the Mourne blazer is made in a herringbone with a hint of a berry red Donegal fleck throughout the fabric, adding a touch of colour. Inspired by traditional blazers with a slim fit, this is a piece that will elevate everything from jeans and a cosy knit to smart trousers and a blouse.
Taking inspiration from the men’s Fintra peacoat, the Penny double breasted peacoat borrows from the boys. In an effortlessly easy to wear length and with an oversized check pattern, it’s at once simple and chic.
Each of the pieces in this collection also pairs perfectly with the rest of the Magee 1866 collection, in particular their Made with Liberty Fabrics including the the Tara top and Rebecca dress, while the Jane merino cable crew neck Tina wool flannel trousers are also perfect matches.
The Magee 1866 Woven Luxury collection is available in their stores, Magee of Donegal, Magee at South Anne St and magee1866.com.
