What’s the first thing you’ll do whenever lockdown ends? I’ll be straight into the hairdresser, as my roots are currently around my ears and making me wince every time I look in the mirror. If you’re desperate for a colour change but concerned about damaging your hair, there’s a new haircare range that’s here to ease all your worries.
Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate, both an in-salon treatment and a three-step at-home range, has ten benefits for every hair type, texture and condition. The in-salon treatment is going to save your hair from any damage when you head straight to the hairdresser and ask them to dramatically change your head, by visibly reversing any surface damage. The three-step at-home range is going to give you your dream hair. “Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate maintains the structure of the hair, the shine and hair health,” says Larry King, hairdresser to Gigi Hadid, David Gandy and lots of other celebrities with enviable hair. “It maintains the pH and with the key ingredients, you can really improve your hair.”
The Acidic Bonding Concentrate at-home range of shampoo, conditioner and leave-in treatment, €27 each, leaves the hair 11 times smoother, frizz-free and shiny, while reducing breakage by 56%. Hair is protected from colour fade, intensely conditioned, protected from heat up to 230 degrees, split ends are reduced, while hair is stronger, less frizzy and instantly shinier. “You’ll see a benefit after the first shampoo,” says Jimmy Green, Redken Education Manager, “and by the sixth, you’ll see the maximum impact and it’s incredible.”
If that sounds slightly unbelievable and too good to be true, it all comes down to very specific scientific ingredients, built on Redken’s three founding pillars; protein, pH and professionals. Here’s the science bit.
As Jimmy Green explains, it’s important to know that the pH of healthy hair and skin generally sits between 4.5 and 5.5. When the pH is higher than that, the hair changes. The cuticle raises, making the hair more susceptible to damage, causing colour fade, frizz and breakage, scalp troubles, dandruff and slower hair growth.
Inside the incredible Acidic Bonding Concentrate range are two key ingredients. There’s a bonding element, which reinforces weakened bonds and is going to give your hair serious strength. There’s also citric acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid, which brings the hair back to its natural pH between 4.5 to 5.5, sealing your hair’s cuticle, protecting your hair colour and preventing fading.
The range is targeted to loads of hair challenges, from colour to heat styling, so whether your issue is a blonde addiction or blowdry addiction, Acidic Bonding Concentrate is going to get your hair back in good nick and at it’s healthiest. So go wild with your colour when you get back in the salon, and get your hair prepared for it’s new colour while you wait.
